I meant that from the time we pick the corn until the time we are shoving it down our throats is about 30 minutes!
Only need to boil the corn for about 10-15 minutes, and yes we do salt the water some and when it is ready to eat, spread it with butter, a little more salt and some pepper and PIG OUT!
Yes, the "Field corn" is MAINLY used for livestock purposes but who knows what else they do with it. People also grow potatoes, onions, mainly green beans and different varieties of peas, different varieties of greens mostly for personal consumption. But there are a lot of small "truck farms" where folks will also grow more to sell, kind of like a vegetable market, but not in one centralized location. The is this own city a little less than an hour from here and you may see 6-10 vegetable stands alongside the road.
There are no LARGE livestock farms around, but there are a lot of cattle and hog farmers. If you want fresh meat, not processed as in a supermarket, there is no shortage of people to choose from that will sell you a beef or hog. Then all you would have to do is take it to a "Food Locker", small private meat processor, to kill it and package it up for you however you want.

I've just always bought cheap "Throwing" knives and only played around with them from time to time. Last time was probably 20 years ago. And I used the blade hold. Never "Stuck with it" long enough to get good, was just an amusing pastime for a little while.
Oh and just used what ever piece of wood or tree was handy.

Received some new steel today...but not Busse-kin. Got my Hoodlum and its very nice. Definitely lighter than I expected for its size.

All right! It´s good that we got those food things sorted out! I like eating! I will probably buy couple of those cheap throwers too. A bit different that I have now, just to test something different.
What kind axes are you throwing MB? Tomahawks, big double edged battle axes, regular woodsmen axes with couple of chainsaws with them? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I have a couple cold steel hawks that I modded a bit. They throw well. I need to rehandle one of them.

I just never really got into the whole throwing thing. I mean it can and is a lot of fun, but I just lost interest after a while. Probably because I was usually by myself while doing it.
