I have been tempted in the past to pick up a yard guard but not the yard hook because of the blade catch, it just doesn't appeal to my eyes. That first knife is a beauty, good luck in your quest.

And I thought I was the only one that didn't like the hook!

It reminds me of a jutte, used by the japanese police to catch a sword blade and then possibly break it. I'm sure most cultures had some weapon of that type.

I like clean lines, and it makes the top of the blade a little busy for my eyes. Just a personal preference, I guess.

I can either take it or leave it. if I had a choice I'd probably leave off but it has never bothered me enough to make me avoid any particular knives.

I do find it interesting that the Busse groups never put the blade catch on any knives but the recurves models. I guess recurves are just considered to be more of a fighter blade.

another thing.... for me the Busse Silent Knight knives are cool but not really something I place high on the list of recurves I want. I think I would rather have the BM Prototype.
