maybe I'm just crazy but I'm always looking for how good a job my blades do when they bite me. if its not a good cut the it probably should've been sharper.

Agreed! This 5-11 is sharper than the war dog that bit me! It's act probably the best factory edge I've gotten from any of my Bussekin.

My Rodent Solution was the worst, although I love the knife! Months later and it still doesn't have a good edge. I'm sharpening challenged.

i bought a HCLE that's pretty much been a butter knife since I got it. one day I'm hoping it will be a real bleeder. probably not by me any time soon though.

I've got a Sharpmaker or I'd be in real trouble. I can get a decent edge freehand, but not a really sharp one.

I have a sharpmaker too. I can't even get that right, at least with SR-101. INFI and SR-77 is a bit easier. The RS edge is far too obtuse, also. I'm trying to get a good 40 degree edge with a 30 degree secondary bevel, and then I'm going to convex it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I think I want to do the paper wheel thing for sharpening but still waiting for a consistent income having to talk myself out of all the stuff I normally would just buy and make up for with OT. miss those days..

I actually convexed my Rodent Solution with sandpaper/mousepad, and got a pretty fair edge on it. Still need to finish it off, but haven't had it out lately. Gonna just hit the edge with the Sharpmaker then strop it again, and I think it'll be a real screamer.
