Hey All,
Just got back from overseas and I am ready for some new steel. I have been eyeing a Dogfather or Basic 11, but I would love to find an unused Chopweiler in moss green. I have been checking out bladeforum but no yet.
I have heard the Chopweiler is a nice chopper for it's size. What do you think?

Swamp Rat is getting ready to release a new knife. Some have said it might be a new chopper.

I've picked up many Chopweilers at Knob Creek, but have always put them back on the table. The handle looks good and some people love it, but it just doesn't feel right in my hand. As I recall, they were priced about $200 at the last show; I was sorely tempted because they had 'em in Bama Clay, but I think the Dog Father is a better chopper at $140. If you missed out on the DeRegulator, that was a fantastic deal with a sheath; hopefully, you got in on it. The Scrapizashi should be coming online at Scrap Yard soon.
Another knife well worth consideration if you want a chopper is the Bushwacker Mistress -- Busse Combat took them off their knives page when they put up the Killa Zilla II CG, but BWMs still show up as options in their online store. I'm a big fan of the BWM, having bought 6 CGs and 3 Competition Finish versions -- they're lighter and far more nimble than a standard Battle Mistress, but plenty heavy enough to do a job. The design is very nearly a the same blade as a Dog Father, in INFI, and with some of the most comfortable machined handles to come out of the Busse shop -- what's not to love about that?

I think the chopweiler is a little small myself. Dogfathers can be had on the exchange regularly. The B11 is also around for good prices right now.
I agree with Jim and this is a standing recommendation to all to get a BWM before they are off the Busse Combat website.

I might be biased but the B11 is the best feeling blade that I have had in the chopper size...and that is out of the following: CGFBM, BWM, 11, M9LE, DF, and DFLE. Considering the size, steel used, and the handle material you should snag one.
The Chopweiler I had I let go of because my SOD did it better.
Glad you got home, was just thinking where you had been.

Thx all!! Those are all great suggestions. I was able to get in on a Reg and what a knife it is . But it is more a bowie and I am looking for a real chopper. The B11 and the Dogfather sound really sweet and I would love a BWM.
The search continues....

Any idea what's next for the Yard? How about 3 different sized knives like Busse?

Welcome back to town LB.
Go for the B11 it is a great blade and no nonsense! the X has a few reasonable! If I wasn't strapped for $ and waiting for a HEST folder I would definitely get another.

And where can I find it? B11 and BWM are sure nice and I have always wanted a Dogfather. I wish I could make it to one of the knife shows for a haul.
