I have yet to have a folder fold on me unintentionally. I started with a Gerber LST and have slowly progressed through Kershaw, Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson, CRK, Strider and now Hinderer. Anyone can break anything. I am sure someone has busted a dogfather. But at that point you are abusing the "tool" and using it improperly. This folders come broken from the factory stuff is a bunch of crap. I do not consider any knives toys besides switchblades. That is a lock I would not trust if I had to. I do carry a stout fixed blade but the folder gets used 99% of the time. I have to think oh it would cool to use my fixed blade today to even think about it. I dont care what the chore is unless it is chopping. The folder is getting pulled out and used.

Ok I Generally EDC a SAK a HAK and a Benchmade. 5 days a week I am in a shirt and tie so I am lucky to get away with a pistol but the fixed blade is out. I never had a problem with a folder until my Emerson folded and almost took my fingers off(multiple times) Hoping the new HACK folder wont have problems.
I do keep multiply fixed blades very close though

Seth, you had an Emerson fail on you? Wow. Never had a problem with mine, a cqc7a.
I carry folder(s) every day, and SOMETIMES a fixed blade as edc. Now I carry my little Sebbie (sebbie 2000 classic) and Uncle Um (Umnamzan). The only small Kin blade I have is an assault shaker gen II, but it is smaller than I want for an EDC. IF I ever get a warden or something in that size range, my EDC may change. Nevertheless I will still continue to carry Little Sebbie as to many Sheeple panic at the sight of even a SMALL fixed blade whereas the folder does not get them all that stirred up. Stupid Sheeple.

On my person, I EDC a RAT Izula and a Kershaw Blur. In my bag, I carry an ESEE-4 or my Weiner Dog. I don't carry anything on my belt, sitting for 12 hours at a time I'll catch my belt knife on the chair arm and such. When not working, usually my Izula isn't far away no matter what I'm wearing, even if it's just sweats to the gym.

I used to EDC an Izula, with a better sheath I might have continued. At the time I was pretty strapped for cash and it was the most suitable knife I had for day in day out stuff.
Now I'm carrying an Emerson that I am just as confident in as the Izula. It carries easier and holds an edge better.

I tried EDC-ing a Swamp Warden for a short time, but my (previous) boss told me that she received a report that I was carrying a weapon at work, so to leave it at home from now on.
I EDC a Kershaw G10/S30v Leek, and chose "I would NOT EDC a Bussekin Folder over a Bussekin fixed blade." because I don't believe that I would EDC a Bussekin folder over that Leek. Why, you might ask; because I need my EDC to be lightweight, not too big or too small, to have a thin, but reasonably strong blade (I don't pry with a folder, but it needs to hold up to normal use). I want it to deploy fast, have excellent edge-holding characteristics, and finally -- I want to be able to replace it for less than $100. I do not believe a Bussekin folder would meet all those requirements.
I've carried literally dozens of different folders, and nothing has worked better for me than the Leek model 1660G10. I've misplaced one (in my house of all places; I haven't seen it in a year, but still expect it to turn up eventually), which is the main reason for my < $100 requirement -- I own a few more expensive damascus folders with exotic handles, but get so paranoid about keeping track of them that I don't enjoy carrying them. I bought several of those leeks for around $75/each on closeout, so I have a ready supply of backups. I suspect that's what will be in my pocket when I die, because I just don't think I'll ever find anything that fits my needs better.
BTW: I own a Rat Trap; it's a nice knife -- nothing magical mind you, but nice. It's bigger than I want to carry, so it's put away and still in the packaging from Knob Creek. I had three at one time; I sold one (at cost) and traded another, but kept the last one for bragging rights. I don't have the extensive Rat Trap collections that some folks do, but I do have one of 'em.

I do in the summer when not in school. A folder would be a lot easier to conceal in my situation.
