The AR7 I had wouldn't function well. I bought it second hand, and it looked a little rough.

Was it a Henry or Charter Arms?

It was an original ArmaLite (Costa Mesa).

I have been looking for a 410/22mag for awhile now. I have found a ton of 223/20g and a 308/12. They were nice but too big and heavy for my needs. I have also been look at the Kel-tec SU 16.

The front sight on my SU16 broke twice. I traded that gun back to the dealer at a substantial loss. Oh yeah, the "mag in the buttstock" will fall out if you fire the rifle.

Hey Dogs, thanks for all the advice. The M6 Scouts I've seen are just too darn pricey. I went to the U.S. Rescue and Special Op Group website. As a survival weapon in the bush they recommend a tricked out .22 pistol w/ 6-8 inch barrel. It's more compact and they think it's good for taking small to medium game at 50 yards. They recommend slapping on a nice red dot with iron sights for back up of course. Then fixing a flashlight to the underrail for night hunting. The two guns they've recommended are the S&W 41 and Ruger Mk1,2,or 3.

I'm thinking of getting a cheap Mk1,2,3, then adding an aluminum tactical solutions pac-lite barrel/receiver in 6inch--then getting a silencer b/c pac-lites come with great titanium threading on the end.

As for that Kel Tec--you must have one of the older versions. I have a new Su-16c--has iron front sight post just like a regular AR. I love that little baby--lightweight, folds up with magazine in--more reliable than your typical AR because of its AK style gas system. I just wouldn't use it for buttstroking--sturdy little gun though...feels like the glock of AR's.

Thanks Arch.I had a buddy that had a charter arms & it was reliable. He had the pistol version too, both worked fine.I wouldn't buy anything from Henry.I had a lever .22 that had feeding problems, even after they sent me new parts.Lot of plastic on em too.
Cheap cheap cheap.
