My first job was mowing grass! I guess technically that was my first job also, but that was only for my parents and grandparents

Worked there for a couple years after school and during the summer. When I turned 16 and got a Jeep I found a job that wasn't quite so....fragrant.

Dan - I learned a lesson in that sheet metal shop! Work hard, work smart, and do something with yourself.

My first job was at Walmart, worked there for 3 years, started at 16 pushing carts in from the parking lot I'll bet that was interesting considering all the walks of life that go to Walmart

Nice to see someone else was working at age 13 Todd. Kids today wouldn't think of it....at least most wouldn't. they're too busy with their Play stations, etc. lol Ain't that the truth! My son won't even help mow the grass unless I bribe or threaten him.

My first job shaped my future in more ways than I could ever have for-told. My father wanted me to desperately learn a trade...and stay away from just screwing around for the summer. He knew some folks at the local fabrication shop, and got me a job as a fitter's helper.
We built asphalt plants. First summer (I was 15)...I was simply a helper...sweeping up, fetching parts, holding things in place for the welders...basically whatever was needed of me. Learned a lot about building things, and grew strong quickly. 10 hour days in mid-july in texas working inside a shop was a good learning experience about hard work.
The job progresses...next summer I was able to help weld a bit...and some of the guys took me under their wings to teach me the art of welding. The next summer I was hired in as a welder, running mostly 1018 rods and sometimes hard-wire. The fourth summer, I was hired in as a welder...but was given small projects to complete on my own, with my own helper.
I left that last fall for engineering school. This experience provided me with much "know-how" on how things get built from the ground up. I use the knowledge daily...

My first job was working on a turkey farm. Had to help feed and water the birds, clean the houses when they were done, and everything in between. Got to drive trucks and tractors too, which was fun for a while. I was 13 when I started there. I dated a girl whos father had turkeys...like 10,000 of them. I never got used to that smell when she had to feed and water them
