Ho buddy, I can attest to the CS SRK. I got one after my Al Mar broke while involved in the Hurricane Andrew relief. Used it like a cheap hoo...you know and it always came right back up to speed for me. Now If I had a S5 at the time, I'd still be abusing it and listening to it laugh at my lame efforts to give it a good workout!

Horn Dog - I didn't want to bash another brand, but I was trying to insinuate that I thought Bark River's "instructions" were because they make....well....they aren't SYKC are they . I took several of my Bussekin out this weekend, and battoned away with them. See here.... http://www.scrapyardknives.com/ubbthread...ge=0#Post444698

Oh man, I've been hanging around Bussekin knives for so long I had completely forgot that some knives will break when you beat on them. Especially after getting the Regulator the thought of anything breaking without a vice and mallet seems like a distant dream.

Noss is the reason I found Bussekin. I was researching "best survival knives", and found his "test" videos. After watching those - I had no doubt that the Yard was going to be my new home.

The Scrapper 6 was darn near indestructible. There are plenty of good knives out there that can take some batoning. But you could do it all day long with just about any Busse-made knife.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I had heard of Busse but didn't know of Scrap Yard until the "Knife Tests" Scrapper 6 video came out. I was pretty impressed. Glad I was able go get one after looking for a long time.

I had decided to buy the moment I finished the scrapper 6 vids. I told myself, I will never put my blade through that kind of punishment, but it's good to know that my blade comes from that pedigree.

El Caca - same thoughts here. After watching the videos, I spent quite a while thinking about the punishment my blades might have to endure during some cataclysmic event. Very quickly afterward I made a decision to "go all Bussekin" for my fixed blade needs. Been working toward that decision since. In fact, I'm down to only one non-Bussekin fixed blade (a SOG Seal Pup). My wife keeps that in her desk at work, because we wouldn't feel overwhelmed by the loss should someone steal it. Eventually I imagine she'll end up with a S5, DM, or similar in her desk though .

The proper baton technique written by Sharpshooter is imo a very good article. I personally believe that no matter what the knife you should try to use proper technique. It developes muscle memory and there may be a time you may have to use someone elses knife or teach the technique to someone that may not have a tough knife.
