Hey, it's your knife; I assumed that you would prefer to see pictures ASAP, but it was suggested (by my Mom) that I might have imposed by posting pictures of your knife rather than letting you be the one to unveil it. I have no objections to sharing the pics on another board and hope that you don't mind me taking them in the first place. I considered posting either the pics, or a link to them over on BladeForums because it didn't seem like they were getting as much news (other than Eric's posts) as I'd expected. However, I had to run out for a couple hours, and haven't gotten around to it yet.

Jim, no problems at all with the pics, I'm glad to have them, and more importantly I was happy to be able to share some pics of it in the hand with some of the Rats. Seems the speculation had taken a turn for the negative by many who were a little too anxious to give it a thumbs down from no more than a couple of pics... I felt like Eric and Jerry deserved more benefit for their experience with knife making and knife design.

Cool haul buddy !

Isn't the Taz just a Chopweiler with bits cut away here and there ?

The Taz Rat and Chopweiler prices are the same, but I'd consider them to be completely different in character. The Chopweiller felt significantly larger, but the Taz has a pretty thick spine. Jeff will be able to provide more insight when he receives it, but I got to where I was liking it pretty good. I don't plan to set myself up as a cheerleader, but for its size, I think the Taz Rat provides a lot of options, and it might be a terrific all-around camp knife.

Jeff, I agree.

No what I'm saying is that the Taz Rat looks to use a Chopweiler blank that has then had some cut away, obviously with some steel cut away it's gonna be lighter than a Chopweiler and feel different.

Pit, that's not the impression I had from the knife. Its considerably different. The edge treatment, handle, weight / balance, etc are all different.

From the pics, the Taz Rat does look to me like it is cut from a Chopweiler blank.

Jim, thanks for the pics, it makes me want mine even more now. Man, too much steel floating around.

For me it's all Hell Razor- which is cool for me- always thought it was such a cool looking blade.

I'm guilty of negative speculation for sure and am glad I'm wrong. Really, this knife does more for me than the new RMD version. I think it's the picture that was used though- seems to show an actual point. Add to that no info from the Swamp and we are left to are own devices...IMO...

RN, I also AT FIRST GLANCE wondered about the "point" in the handle. Then about a half second later saw how it showed good rounding of the edges and thought it would fit in the hand just like Jim told us it did, in the first hand held pic and even more so in second one. GOOD JOB BUSSE BOYS!

If I would have known that was going to be there, I would have paid good money for you to proxy for me!

That thing is awesome.
