Hey Dogs, I thought I'd stop by and post pics from my deer camp. We took two bucks. Mine was a 3x4 with two eye guards taken at 320 Yards with a 110gr Accubond .257 Weatherby Magnum out of a Remington 700 CDL SSF. My buddy took his first buck in his first hunting trip at 500 yards with a 300 remington ultra mag that he had never shot before. We cleaned both bucks with a Scrap Yard S5LE. It stayed plenty sharp through both of them. Here are some quick pics. ![[Linked Image from i577.photobucket.com]](http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss214/kuanomar/october2010deercamp5.jpg)

Successful would be an understatement! Nice job! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
I couldn't see them at those ranges, much less hit 'em LOL. All my deerhunting is closer than 100 yards, and usually more like 40-50.

I would have thought the S5 would have been a bit large and thick for most of the work.

Thanks guys.
Skunk, the S5LE was PERFECT. The handle is very secure when covered in blood, and helps the hand not get tired when skinning. The handle also lets you really put some energy behind the blade when needed. The blade itself great for all parts of the dressing out process. I even found myself using the choil a couple of times. It's pointy enough but not too pointy to nick the guts. I actually think a smaller knife would have made it the quartering part a bit difficult. I for the most part,(my uncle and friend helped on the skinning), I used the S5LE for every part of both bucks.
In nutshell, the S5 is now my favorite knife for dressing out a buck. Now, for dressing out skunks while skunk hunting...it might not be the best choice:)

I couldn't see them at those ranges, much less hit 'em LOL. All my deerhunting is closer than 100 yards, and usually more like 40-50. Out here in the PNW, shots out to 200 yards are quite common. Now a 500 yard shot? That was impressive. If I had not ranged the buck AND watch it bang-flop through my binoculars, I might not have believed it myself. I don't know that I would have had the nerve to take that shot. But, he believed that he could make an ethical shot at that range and the buck never knew he died. It was like it touched by Benny Hinn!

I'm not up to speed on Blacktails...but aren't those some Dandy's!!!??
Good shooting brother, and glad to hear the S5 is getting some love. My SS4 is going to get in the mix this winter....I still have 2 more weeks until we hit the stands around here.
POST PICS OF BLOODY S5!!! It is Halloween season, after all <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
