The Test team edition knives was a "pre production test/evaluation blade. Certain people(I don't remember the criteria) were selected and allowed to buy them to evaluate and report their findings, likes and dislikes back to Dan. IF I remember they were all flat ground and are highly prized blades.

If anyone has anything else I forgot or if you find I said something wrong please let R17 know.

Oh and IF you haven't found out they were the TEST KNIFE for the Regulator.

Oh I forgot to say they can now be sold. Originally the testers had to agree to a 6 month silent period regarding their input on the knife and after that they were free to do with them as they wanted.

The Test Team edition knives were an initial limited release sold at one of the Blade shows. They were similar to prototypes, and (as I recall) they were sold at a somewhat reduced price and the buyers had to agree to not sell them for six months (that period has expired, so they are free to sell them if they want to). Buyers were encouraged to provide feedback on their Test Team knives, and some of their suggestions were used to redesign the knife for a full production run.

Test Team knives are slightly different than the production run; as with anything, some people prefer the Test Team versions, either because they're less common or because they didn't like the production run changes, but those changes were made as improvements based on user feedback, so I prefer the production knives.

You're welcome. Also, I searched for Dan's post about the production run changes:
A Look At The Changes We MadeTo The Regulator...

And here's a TT/Deregulator comparison post by Jroden5446:
A tale of two Regulators, a quick review

R17 As far as I know the ONLY Regulators that are flat ground are the Test Team version. ALL the others are sabre ground. Again, someone please correct me If I am wrong.

R17, you MIGHT also want to check out the SOD (Son Of Dogfather) It is virtually nothing more than a short Dog Father.
