I suppose retrospectively we could use the invoice number as a serial and add a,b,c etc on orders of multiple knives... just a thought.

Good call, that would certainly help in tracking the original owner of the knife. This could be a great little idea!

Thanks! It was kind of spontaneous on seeing the posts in the thread but instantly struck me as a pretty good idea (plus Patti knows who ordered what!) these knives 'deserve' serial numbers as they are a bit 'underground cult'.
