I have been best friends since the 4th grade with a person I will refer to as Bob.
Bob and I grew up together, got in trouble together, served in the military together, deployed to combat together etc. Needless to say if there is was one guy who I know would show up anywhere in the world to save my bacon when called it is Bob.
After coming up through the ranks Bob became an Infantry Officer. He took over command of his unit about 11 months prior to deployment. During this time he built up an extreme level of rapport and respect with his troops -- I attribute most of this to Bob's prior enlisted experience.
Bob's unit decided to call themselves “Scrappers” because they fight dirty but always win.
In the U.S. Armed Forces it is somewhat of a tradition that the unit may be called “X” on the radio and the Commander of the unit is called “X-6”.
Of course my fellow board members can already see this coming... My best friend, who is not a knife guy at all, had the radio call-sign of “Scrapper Six”.
As soon as I found this out I had to get a Scrapper Six and give it to Bob.
Enter stage left an outstanding gentlemen we all know and love Trevor aka Knife Hunter from Bladeforums.
I had purchased a knife from Trevor before and knew if anyone could hook me up it would be him. Of course within a matter of hours Trevor responded that he would be honored to hook up me up with the knife I needed for Bob.
Bob returned from his deployment on mid-tour leave and I presented him with a factory new Scrapper Six with a Spec Ops Brand sheath. Bob loved it. He remarked that it was the most solid feeling knife he had ever held.
Rest assured that the Scrapper Six was on guard and will continue to be in the future helping protect our freedoms.
Thank you Trevor for all your help in making this happen!
