Today, on the 7th of January, the Orthodox Church celebrates the birth of Jesus.

Simultaneously, the Coptic Orthodox are sharing in the grief of those affected by the bombing of the Saints Church in Alexandria after New Years Mass a week ago. Celebrations have been kept to a minimum in respect for the martyrs.

Nonetheless, I hope the rest of you are enjoying this day and the freedom we have to celebrate it in this, God's country.

Right on Mag.
And thanks,I did enjoy the day.
It's a shame some fanatics choose to spread death
instead of peace in the name of their twisted interpretation of their religon.
Even here in "Gods" country we're not immune to the

I hope you had a good Christmas, Magnum. Maybe I'll switch to celebrating it then. That would give me more time for shopping and I could take advantage of those after Christmas sales as Jesus intended. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

there is fragmentation between the eastern and oriental orthodox churches. i suppose the eastern orthodox stuck with the catholics during the julian v. gregorian calendar thing. don't quote me on that.
