You're welcome Randy.

Actually the iTP A3 EOS you're looking at looks really good and is great value.

Just looked at the iTP website and I think the 96 lumen version is single mode and the 80 lumen version is 3 mode (the way I read it anyway). http://www.itplight.com/product_show.asp?id=197

It says you can run them on 10400 li-ions - which is neat.

Lithium primaries for AA and AAA are not a bad option either - they're a lot better than alkalines.

I carry a AAA light on my key chain but at 10 lumens it is not that bright - you may have just found me my next keychain light! I used to carry the P1D as my backup light on my belt for night shifts as a paramedic.

Cheers,

Harley.

Thank you Harley and I am glad that I may have been of help to you as well. I have been carrying the maratec aaa for a year or so now (3 levels) and think it is made by itp and I really like it. The low is good for reading and the other two works pretty well, I work midnight to 8 am and I am always using my light every day for something if nothing but getting around and dressed at night.

Forego your AA requirements and go with the CR2 Muyshondt Aeon.

The CR2 Muyshondt Aeon is one nice looking light!!!

But at $125+ it is only for the serious flashlight enthusiast

Holy smoke - 5000 lumens!!! You'd burn an extra hole in the ozone layer with that thing.

I have a halogen torch monster thingy (although the charger is busted... ) That pumps out 2 million candle power wth both bulbs on. It's so bright that it can light up the back room in the house when turned on in the family room, at the other end of the structure. I sometimes use it when I'm camping, it'll light up the entire side of the mountain.

I'm sure Adam's is a bit more portable though, my lunker weighs 20 lbs and has it's own sling

*matter of fact, just found a new one on amazon for 25$. I got a brand new dwarf star coming in the mail!

Not unless Al Gore says he can

Looking for a good EDC flashlight for my work bag.

I was interested in the County Comm Maratac Extreme light, but they are sold out and will not be producing more. Bummer.

So - this is what I am looking for:

LED pruduced by a major supplier such (Cree, Inova, etc)

Adjustable high and low mode - I don't need 7 modes and a flasher

Long battery life - say at least 4 hours on high and 40 hours on low

takes AA bats

water resistant - water proof is nice, but I'm not swimmin with this one

Good light production rating - say at least 80 to 100 lumens on high - not a tactical light by any stretch

durable materials - polymer is ok

an attachment to make it into a lamp would be nice

Anyone in the yard have experience with something that works ??

take a look at the Maratac AA or ZebraLight SC50+ and SC50w+
