Not much of one I know, but something I've been wanting to do it for awhile. Weather and family gave me a free hour for a little choppy choppy!

The Contestants:
Some of my favorite zombie killers- here are a Koyote Bush Beater- got it last week. That swedge is sharpened for about 4". My beloved Battle Rat and Tamang Kukri from HI.

Next we have a HI Parang, Condor Combat Machete (my poor man's gladius! ) and lastly, my Cold Steel Trail Hawk.

15 Smacks each and ...

There are 2 for the Koyote b/c I wanted to see how gripping front and back compared. I didn't see much of a difference, but to be fair, the 2nd run was pretty much on a knot. The Parang is a beast. Broke the limb on the 15th strike! Wowza! The Condor did pretty well, no?! But, I really need to do this again for some extended chopping. Some of the results seem mixed. I did a good chop off with the Battle Rat and Tamang last year and the Tamang clearly won. Here, the BR did very well! The hawk takes some deep bites!

But overall, the knife I'm going for in this group is the BR. Does it all well and I'm a Res C man!

The sheath of the Koyote deserves it's own photos here. Check out the carry options on it- I use the middle loop and it rides nice and high. Fits the BR like it was made for it and I love it. Makes the BR carry like my Camp Tramp!

Lastly, look who came along for the ride. My new favorite in the 4-5" range. I'll be back to write this up when time allows!

Not much content folks, but something to look at and was nice to get outside even for a little bit! I'll need to play hooky from work at some point to do a good review, but I'll make that type of sacrifice for the Yard.

OK isn't the word- she is a beast! Weighs as much as my Honda Fit though! The hawk really didn't do bad at all. I haven't had it out forever and this brief test didn't do it justice. It bites DEEP! My pics are terrible, but I think some lines are visible showing how much it penetrated. If I could have dedicated 20-30 minutes to each tool, I think it would have finished in the top 2-3.

The Condor surprised me! Again, photos don't do it justice, but it hung in nicely and that wood is some hard stuff. Nice handle like the BR helped it I think. I was waiting to roll an edge and it did't happen.

The Koyote needs more evaluation. After I was done chopping, I did a little wood shaving/feathering and wood was falling off like meat on a bone. Christof's grinds are real interesting- convexed, but almost looks like a hatchet, and justs eat wood. The man knows woods blades!

Thanks for the comments guys. After this winters' storms, nice to get out a little!

Thank you! If you like it, check it out with the Koyote sheath! Perfect...and carries so easy- makes the BR much more portable and user friendly for me.
