Come to think of it, maybe I'd add a deck of playing cards to help pass the time for my 4th item, maybe my Edible Plants playing cards or one of the other decks I have with survival info would come in handy.

1. Deregulator 2. Fire kit 3. Good LED light 4. Charlie Sheen..... (because he has a 10,000 year old brain, the boogers of a 7 year old and can shoot fireballs and poetry from his fists. All pretty useful in a survival situation. Well maybe not the poetry and boogers but the rest is pretty good.

Great thread!
1) 6.5 Regulator (prefer the B-11 if allowed only one, but it's a Busse) 2) Fire Kit 3) Emergency Fishing Kit (if nothing else, to help pass the time) 4) Mil Poncho w/ Liner

Dog Father Recon 3 Sleeping Bag Bic Lighter iPod loaded with some new audiobooks.
I would spend the first half a day building a shelter with the materials you preloaded in my pack, getting water if the bottle you put in is empty, getting some firewood and picking up any shrooms or other edibles along the way. If I don't find any food, no big deal, its only 48 hours. Hell, the shelter is mostly for comfort anyway for that time period at those temps. I could always just make a bivy out of the tarp and put the sleeping bag in it. I could go two days in those temps with out water as well.
Once the above stuff is done, I'd make a fire in my shelter, bundle up in my bag and listen to some good stories while I wait out the weather for the next 36 hours.

With what you already supplied 1) Mod 7 goes everywhere with me 2) Bic lighter 3) FAK which has one of them emergency blankets 4) Mountain House freeze dried meal for two I'm curious as to why nobody seems too concerned about food? I always bring 1 or 2 of those meals just in case.. As you guys know, they only weigh a couple ounces, you only need 8oz of H2O to cook it, and a full belly goes such a long way. Opinions on carrying food? Regards,Mike

If its only 48 hours, and I got the other things you supplied, it would be like a nice little vacation
