I just picked up a '96 Dodge Ram 1500 for 2 Grand, the gentleman I bought it from had recently dropped in a newer engine and rebuilt the transmission, so this truck ought to be bulletproof for a while yet. Lots and lots of highway miles (Arizona plates attest to that). Frame is straight, and the stepboards aren't dinged up, indicating to me that it didn't see much offroading. So, I now have both a quasi-jeep and a 4WD Truck <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> (The Patriot is a 2WD crossover. I didn't even realize Jeep made crossovers. Is that IFS or straight axle by chance? Straight axle...you can see the control arm in last pic. Good find ECF!! Those old Dodges are beasts! You now have a SHTF Truck to go along with your M1A <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Ishi- I'm already eyeballing rifle racks for it!
Myke- I totally agree, I put 35$ in it after I got it, and it barely got to half a tank. GAH!
Definitely happy I nabbed it. I may sell the jeep, just so I can get out from underneath the payments on it. As it stands, I can afford the payments np, but I hate to sacrifice the fuel economy. I know the Dodge won't be the best as gas crests 3.50$ a gallon.

Thanks Jeff, I think so too! Update: I talked to Carmax about selling off the Jeep, as well as my bank about how much I have left on my loan on it. Carmax is willing to give me 9 thousand for the jeep, and that will only leave me about 1 grand upside down on the loan. If I can get the bank to consolidate the two small amounts into one 3-4 thousand dollar loan, it'll get my payments wayyyy down and it'll get payed off in about a year and a half. Looks like I'm going to sell the Jeep. I tell you what I'll really miss is the Boston Acoustics Stereo in that thing. Other than that, prolly won't miss it too too much. Once I'm out of debt, I can better spend the 10 Gs I owe on it on my truck instead. Grill Gaurd, New Stereo, the whole 9 yards <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

You can expect about 13 MPG if thats the 5.9. Its good truck. I had an 01 before I bought my diesel. My kid cried when I sold it.
