In light of the fact that the HOGS decided to troll our poll and screw up our results, I've decided to return the favor and put out the Big SR-77 Scrap Yard Bowie for the next go around as it seems to be the one that the REAL Dogs want the most!

Hogs, they're what's for dinner!

Sounds good to me. I originally opted for the infi, but after a little thought the bowie sounds better..

Oh well... I was looking forward to a nice EDC blade to carry on a daily basis. Just how many 10+" blades do you guys actually carry and use daily? Don't get me wrong, they are cool to look at and sure you can cut down small trees with them, but how many of the biggun's do you need? At least make it 5/16 thick to seperate it a bit fom the pack. Is this possible with the res-c handle?

I know.. I know... its not a question of need, its a question of want... I just wanted an EDC and that mudder sounded perfect. Any idea on how long before the mudder enters production?

I hope the INFI EDC is next then! I could really use a more rust resistant EDC.

I agree. I have plenty of big choppers already, and an EDC would get a lot more use and provide greater utility to me. I always wanted to try out some INFI, but it's been out of my price range.

I also think 5/16th would be cool. All my Rats are 1/4", and the extra weight for a chopper would probably help with penetration when chopping. And it would just be really cool to have a piece of Sr77 that thick.

Same, here. Oh, well...

I guess I've learned how much our votes count for.

Outstanding Dan - You are THE MAN!!!!!! On behalf of all the Dogs who were hoping and praying for the BOWIE - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Yeehaw!!!

Thank you Dan for those great big old BOWIES,
Soon they will be our favorite steel toys;
And though there are those who will groan, gasp and sputter,
The next release can be the EDC Mudder.
Now Jerry's kids can grunt off to the trough,
Besides, their smell was making us cough.

I would imagine it's possible, but even if it ended up being the same .275" stock thickness as the Scrapper 6, it will be noticeably heavier than a similar 1/4" blade. Well, that is assuming, of course, that both are ground the same. A 3/4-height saber ground 1/4" blade would probably be as heavy or even slightly heavier, but the full flat .275" will likely cut better...

Okay, when I start talking in circles it's time to stop. It'll be neat regardless.

Yeah, I'm sure it will be a fine Bowie, I'm just chewing on sour grapes right now. I had the funds set aside for the mudder and was planning sheath designs on it already. I know the SMOG and GW is coming out soon but the blade length is not long enough for my needs. I guess the Nimravus has gotten a contract extension by default.

I will second that Rich! The Infi Mudder was my close second choice anyway, and it should make the rest of our brother Dogs who voted honestly happier.

Mudder INFI?

Sounds like a winner for the next blade AFTER the Big Bowie Chopper.

Now we're going to need a name for that big monster!

Hmmmmm... Sounds like there might be a contest coming soon!

Hmmm.... a naming contest...COOL!!!

Dan-the-Man, you are the HOG-stomper! That's phenominal that you filtered through the highjacked poll results and came out with an accurate picture of what the majority of loyal subjects want. Thanks for listening, and caring what people think. oh and i 23 the motion for a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 stock for this bad sheep-killin' dog Bowie...

Dan, if you haven't got any 5/16 lying around .275 would be fine! I think you'll find everyone would buy .25 though! You could always do a 5/16 LE later...

wow sweet, i voted the bowie, and then saw the results...

anyways i would love to have the edc and another smaller knife as well, but im still wishing i would have got that 10.5 inch rat daddy a long time ago, and so this bowie should be amazing and fill that slot. i would also

like to nudge the 5/16 thickness, that would be great.

thanks so much

Hey Dan, if you could, next time you plan on making a blade out of INFI don't tell anyone till the knives are made and sold.
Those HOG's are some greedy .... (you can fill in the blank.)

It would eat them up if they knew they missed out on some INFI that they could have put in there safe.

I forward the motion of making this blade out of 5/16" stock. It would make it a true "Hog Slayer and Rat Muncher".

No doubt! Every time i hear someone say they are keeping a non-art knife (like a Busse or Rat or Dog or whatever) in a safe, it feels like they are stealing from those of use who would actually USE the knife. I just don't get it, why don't they collect antique slip-joint patterns, or fine damascus with fossil ivory? Why "ugly" knives made of the world's toughest tool steels?! It's nonsense! Man, i get so worked up over this, it drives me knuts!! sorry, time for another drink...

So the more important question... what's the ETA on this?

Hopefully not the typical 2 weeks... sigh...

I wanted both the bowie and the small edc, but will buy whatever... hopefully something in the near future.

Let's not forget about the MOJO, either! (that'll be our next campaign: What do we want? MOJO! when do we want it? NOW!!)

We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

I don't know dogg - the Infi Mudder has a pretty solid following! Since it was in such a tight race in the poll - until those smelly old Hogs messed it up - I think the Mudder should be next, and I would vote for it as well.

Hopefully we get our big bowie soon (Dog-of-war!) followed by the INFI shorty shortly after. Also hopefully, in the next few years Dan 'please' do an INFI Scrapper 7...!

I've always thought that Cerebus(can't remember if that's the right spelling),the two headed dog who stood before the Gates of Hades, would be a cool name for a really, really big knife, with a (smaller)knife riding piggy-back...(well,Cerebus had two heads,it would have to be a two headed knife, right?Or,a 'hawk with an armor peircing spike(also sort of two-headed).

Cerberus--not only the name of an especially cool mythic guardian but also of a serious Rat/Hog over on Bladeforums. I'm sure he'd be delighted to have a Scrap Yard knife named after him, I'll have to ask him which model would be his preference.

Cerberus had 3 heads, so would that include the sheath, or would it have to include a 3rd knife?

Bowie, INFI mudder and a sharpening steel 'in disguise' would fit the bill as your three heads! Same sort of idea as a traditional khukri; chopper, utility blade and striking steel.

'Dear Santa, for Christmas I want a big sharp Dan bowie. I know I haven't been very good this year, but hell what can you do?'

In light of the fact that the HOGS decided to troll our poll and screw up our results, I've decided to return the favor and put out the Big SR-77 Scrap Yard Bowie for the next go around as it seems to be the one that the REAL Dogs want the most!

Hogs, they're what's for dinner!

Dan
--------------------------

Hi Dan,

I usually hang out in the Busse forum and I support Busse Knives, Swamp Rat and now Scrap Yard; so far I have actually purchased two of your knives. I don’t post here because I find that most people interested in any of those three knives can be found in the Busse forum.

I find it disappointing that you’d have a vote and then arbitrarily discard the results based on the active participants of your forum rather than those that ACTUALLY buy the knives.

In my case it was not merely the Infi that influenced my vote but it was the size of the knife and that it could be an every day user.

Now I'll just pass on the big knife I'll never use, have to wait for you smaller knife.

Regards,
Tony G

Hello Tony G and Welcome to the Yard! Regarding the vote, it was quite obvious that the vote had been skewed, and I applaud Dan's decision to go with the Bowie next. It was my first choice, followed by the Infi Mudder. It sounds like the Mudder will be the next model released after the Bowie anyway, so there is no need for anyone to be upset, and I plan on getting the Mudder as well.
This forum holds my greatest interest, with only an occasional trip to the Swamp, and very rarely to BladeForums. I like what I see so far from the Yard, and plan on buying more of their products that suit my particular needs, though not neccessarily every one. I can certainly understand your view towards the Bowie, but hope you are happy with future offerings. We would love to have you become an active participant on this forum, so please consider such. Tom

Patience may be a virtue but I'd of cancelled by now... (life's too short!). At risk of being lynched by the BCAA I think I may wait for the Scrapper 9 and give the bowie a miss... A couple of reasons- a false (or worse- a sharp top edge) would chew up a baton rather than drive the blade through the wood; second, using the point to whittle would be harder on your thumb with a false edge. (a complaint I have with my CRKT Kasper). Actually in addition I'd rather have .275 than .25 in the tang...

I am now going to hide for a few days until the BCAA stop trying to hunt me down!

Yeah sorry mate, I thought I heard creaking as I was typing! Still I'll be having the INFI mudder and a Scrapper 9 in sr77- and if Dan hears our prayers and does an INFI S9.. well it'd rude not to buy at least one... So I'm not a totally reformed character! INFI INFI INFI...

PK,

Did you ever see the episode of Family Guy where Lois got a job as a flight attendant and Peter flew all over the world for free? I'll never forget his one-act play entitled "Winston Churchill: We Hardly Knew Ye."

No, I'm afraid that I never got into "The Family Guy" - Archie Bunker was more my style!

I did. Family Guy is one of my favorite shows. In fact, I'm one of the ones that wrote Fox to help get it back on the air after it was first canceled.

Yep, Stewart Gilligan Griffin of Spooner Street. I believe I've seen every episode, including the unaired direct to DVD "untold story" one. Some other cartoons I like are: South Park, King of the Hill, Space Ghost, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

They actually finally did air the untold story on Fox. Those were some other good 'toons you mentioned, too.

Now the important questions as we await the Scrapyard Bowie:

While Bruce Campbell is a cooler Grim Reaper than Norm MacDonald, whom do you feel is better suited to being a Reaper for The Family Guy?

Bruce Campbell has a book?! Now I have to learn how to read...

...That's one for the to-read list to be sure. Right now, I've got a huge book on Persian arms that desparately needs reading. It covers from the Bronze Age to the end of Qajjar dynasty (mid 1920's when the last shah's father took over Persia from the last Qajjar ruler). Definitely not a book you can lug into the bathroom and read on the throne unless you're prepared for a World's Strongest Man endurance feat on the can (and I don't want my family to hear me grunting "Icelandic!" while I'm on the terlet trying to read about Shah Ismail Safavid or the Seljuq occupation. For that matter, I don't want to call the author and confide that I gave myself an upset tummy just to read the next chapter. )

Gravelface,
I agree with you on Bruce.
He is perfect in being everything from a cowboy to the king of thieves.
Met him on a couple of occasions. I actually invited him to my wedding, but he declined. .
Just saw a low budget horror the other night with him in a supporting role. He can steal the screen with even the slightest lines.
I hope the plans carry through for him to star in the next phantasm sequel, as well as evil dead 4.

No need to be jealous GF. Bruce Campbell's life is just a charade, acting the roles that someone else creates. You're the real thing, living and surviving events from which roles are created. He should be jealous of you!

We know whats next, question now is when...

Actors (like most celebs) are good fun, but few of them really improve, change or have any marked effect on the world... Those that do are to be (mostly) commended...
