OK

1. THE CHOPPERS The CG FBM. If it's gonna be a dedicated chopper, might as well be a big un. That wide and long blade should chop outstandingly well.

2. THE LARGE SIZE The DeReg. Still a pretty good sized knife, PLENTY rugged yet long enough to do some finer splitting/semi-delicate work. And that long that sharp point would be useful for a lot of different things.

3. SMALLER MEDIUM TO MID RANGE The Fallkniven F1 It has such a rep as a do it all bushcrafter type blade that it probably be the most versatile and the size is almost perfect, if not so for delicate/small camp chore/kitchen type duties.

If you will notice I did not list anything in the Medium category. I feel that the large and smaller medium to mid range size has this part covered thereby making a knife in this category redundant and unnecessary weight.

Would these blades still be your picks for a B.O.B?

Sar,

If you can choose only one from each category which ones would they be and why?

By the way, pretty sweet collection! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Pretty tough question. For the large chopper either the cgfbm or the m9. They both feel great tome and are not overly heavy to carry for a long period of time.

Large/med. range, the cold steel recon scout, becausevi know it is a tough dependable knife, or the sarsquatch, this thing is starting to grow on me.

Next would be the grohmann with black micarta handle. I think it on there. It has proven itself from field dressing an elk to filleting trout. It can be batoned thru surprisingly thick branches and whittle kindling. The only problem some people have is that there is no guard per say. So finger placement is critical.

Now these are based now. Once my shoulder is healed I am very anxious the give the dog father a run. The handle feels a little small but I have not tested it yet.

A knife that isn't posted that I think will give the grohmann a run for it's money is the muk. For camp cooking and chores I think that will be hard to beat. I hope it helps and more pics will be coming.
Thanks for looking.

Hart, Yes they would also be my BOB picks. BUT as SAR pointed out the Grohmann. I almost picked it over the Fallkniven as I like that blade shape and the raised handle, but went with the F1 because you hear more about it. PLUS with the exposed butt you COULD pound it point first into something if needed.

Hi,
I posted some new pics in the first three posts of this thread of the handles of some of the choppers and large blades I still had access too.
Hope it helps out.

Your right the f1 has the ability to hammer, but the grohmann is a great outdoor knife.
