I thought I would share a pic of my mosin nagant 91/30 converted into a scout rife. Its still in the works. Not sure what scope to get for it. Later on I plan on cutting down the barrel and getting a bent bolt. Those mods can wait tho.

Parts Used:

ATI Mosin synthetic stock.

S&K Insta-Mount with S&K split scope rings.

1 can of Krylon flat OD camo paint

1 can of Krylon flat black camo paint

I'm pretty happy with the tiger stripe camo job. It was my first attempt. Great thing about rattle can camo jobs is you can always paint over them and start new.
I plan on adding a Triad Tactical Shooters pack.

Shooters Pack

Not sure what scope to get. I wish i could get a Leupold FX-II scout scope but at 200 - 300 bucks its just not gonna happen lol.

If any of you dogs got any suggestions to a good LER scope please chime in.

Well hope you guys enjoy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Looks good. I'm all about modding a rifle if it makes sense and you use it.

It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it.

I don't have a ton of experience with Mosins but have not been impressed with the sights, a lighter stock and optics would seem to add a lot of utility. There are a gazillion of them anyway.

Great idea. I have thought about doing the same to a plain jane 91/30 or find a M38. The LER mount is ideal for a shorter rifle/carbine and I would leave the bolt handle the way it is for two reasons: 1) faster to manipulate and 2) more force on the opening of the bolt when the palm of the hand is used.
Thanks for sharing your project.
