Making a bold move from a lifetime in Wisconsin and Chicago to Plano Texas just north of Dallas this coming Friday.
Any opinions on living in Texas?
Peace.

My entire family is from Texas. Specifically DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex). Plano is part of DFW. I lived in Mesquite (East DFW) when I was a kid and have visited Texas almost every year of my life since.
DFW is huge land-wise. It is bigger than some states. Lots of money there. The area is pretty clean from my perspective, but I never spent much time in Plano.
Texans are proud people, which you have probably already heard about or experienced for yourself. There is plenty to do in regards to nightlife, entertainment and outdoor activities. You name it, they got it. They are even building a mountain for snow skiing.
It is hot and humid there, so, like Skunk said, "water!"
As for Texas in general, there is just about any climate or land type there. Swamps in the south, mountains in the north, plains in the west, deserts etc etc
If you like beef, you'll love that place. There are a BBQ joints on every street claiming to have the best steaks on Earth.
Hope that helps.

Texas has pigs for killin practice
Texas has fantastic BBQ.
Texas has..well, Tex-Mex...and it rocks!
The list goes on and on...what kind of work are you in POP? Why the move?

I can take a joke,but fantasy?
Wisconsin has 7.5% on everything you touch!!! Next you'll tell me gas is under $4.35 a gallon!
What kidders. thanks for the eye opening update on the Lone Star state.
Peace.

Next you'll tell me gas is under $4.35 a gallon! I pay $3.83 yesterday in Austin Texas is for folk that can't afford California. :P This is the truth! I moved to the Bay area right out of college...and didn't like paying $1300/mo for a one bedroom piece of crap apartment and living on beans. So, I moved to Austin and got a house with a yard, guns, knives, women....you guys can keep the [censored] earthquakes. Another thing about Texas. THUNDERSTORMS. Spring is notorious for them...

PoP, I am a little north of the Plano area--oh, about 3 and a half hours. The weather there is pretty nice except the storms that have 'nados involved, and it can get hot. Now the BBQ--pretty dang good. There is a lot of other things but since I don't live there I only get to experience the good stuff from time to time.
Oh yeah, a great gunshow over at the Market Hall center a couple times a year too!
