Cazio, check out Bud K. they have a full line of Shinwa traditional hand forged swords, and for the work that goes into them, they're priced nicely. Very good looking blades too! Thanks for the info I'll take a look.

For me it was the early 70's. One of my first 6th grade shop projects was a bunch of metal throwing stars. We caught heck when they started showing up stuck in the ceiling of the breezways. From there moved on to the nun chucks. Whenever it was jacket weather, I would carry a set with one stick running down the left sleeve inside, ready to pull out. The only thing I ever hit with them was myself, but thought I was ready and bad @$$. From High School days I still have a couple of sets that a friend in cabinet shop made for me. A set of hexagonal Bubinga wood. And some round ones that are teak, grooved and lead filled on the ends. Ahh, good memories...... When I first new what a throwing star was I told my dad. He went to work and came home hith a 5" piece of thick styrefome. And my first star. He cut it out of sheet metal and was bigger than a circular saw blade! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. At first I was disappointed but darn that thing threw like no ones business. My dad was great, I hope that Well yes good memories.

Wow, what history there. Never really got into the ninja deal but had a few stars and secret butterfly knives!

I had a few stars, and "chucks". Got to messing with them in the Philippines. Also that's where I got my first POS butterfly knife. Got back to the world and got some nice Benchmade ones but the first GOOD one was the utility model from Pacific Cutlery, the for runner of Benchmade!
Of all the "NINJA MANIA" My favorite was the Sai. Funny that I never had a set. But I always thought they would be the best "Defensive" weapon, and not all that bad of an offensive one. I had "dreams" of a drop sheath double set up, one on each leg with tie downs. Man that was a long time ago.

I went through my ninja phase in the 80s. It was less ninja, and more phase. my Mom was the opposite of your Dad, sar5
No spiked claw gloves, no ninja swords, no throwing stars or throwing knives, No rated R movies. I was told "no" a lot growing up.

I was told no a lot as well, buti oils try and improvise why I couldn't have and that would usually turn out more expensive and more dangerous for everyone!

I made my first pair from wood wrapped in my dads electrical tape, about a roll each much to his despair! He was such a good sport now that I look back. I finally got a real pair and took private lessons with an instructor. They were great until while trying to parry a down ward strike from my instructor I put my thumb in-between the upper cross guard and used it to Cushion The strike. Split my thumb open, nail fell off and my sai days fell to the way side a year or so later. By then I found guns!
