I never knew he was famous until years after his death. I just knew he was a awesome teacher and a good friend.

What was his teaching like? You do weapons work with him? Hwa Rang Do with a mean attitude?

Very cool!

I was too young to do weapons work. Just the basics. He was assasinated in 78. My Dad did a bunch of training with him. It was mostly work related. They did some crazy stuff.

Sar,

Aren't you worried that exposing your ninja past will bring retaliation upon you and your family?

I remember those days well. I still have my first and second ninja swords, both 440 stainless from the collector's armory in Alexandria VA. I still remember all the shuriken I had and a few I still do as well as sai, kusari-gama,kama and a few other items I can't seem to part with. I was really into the whole craze, I can remember going to the drive-in to see Enter The Ninja I had to pay for my mother to get in as I didn't drive at the time. I have a really nice collection of fiction books on the ninja and samurai and still read them over and over and buy new ones as they come out. I have actually been looking at getting a new forged sword but haven't found the one I want, this whole thread brings back great memories, thanks for starting it.

My mother told me if didn't have anything nice to say then don't say anything but that never stopped me before.

Cazio, check out Bud K. they have a full line of Shinwa traditional hand forged swords, and for the work that goes into them, they're priced nicely. Very good looking blades too!

For me it was the early 70's. One of my first 6th grade shop projects was a bunch of metal throwing stars. We caught heck when they started showing up stuck in the ceiling of the breezways. From there moved on to the nun chucks. Whenever it was jacket weather, I would carry a set with one stick running down the left sleeve inside, ready to pull out. The only thing I ever hit with them was myself, but thought I was ready and bad @$$. From High School days I still have a couple of sets that a friend in cabinet shop made for me. A set of hexagonal Bubinga wood. And some round ones that are teak, grooved and lead filled on the ends.
Ahh, good memories......
