Finnish puukko usually has < 1" wide blade. In the old days puukko was an all around tool, kitchen knife and a negotiator in complex social confrontations.
Nowadays puukko is used as a woods/hunting/fishing knife and is wery good in wood carving. Puukko has quite thin blade and it's often about 4" -5"long.
My first impression when I saw the WD was it's a puukko. Well American made puukko. WD has also details of a fighting knife. Drop point, thick blade, finger guard and a gap between cutting edge and finger guard.
Because I wasn't here for the Muk I think the WD is a brilliant knife to be my first SY!

I got my credit card dinged already! I thought these would be a ways out. It takes about 4 days for charges to show up on my card. Was it a charge or a hold? Any word from Renee? While I will be excited to get this sooner, I had been budgeting for late June. No big deal if either happens.

While I will be excited to get this sooner, I had been budgeting for late June. No big deal if either happens. You and I are in the same boat, my friend. My wife's gonna kill me when she sees this charge on our check card this morning. Oh well, I'll die happy.

You will need to pay at the time of shippment...when the credit cards are charged. I suspect we will ship shortly after Blade Show if everything goes right....does this help?

I would like SY to offer Kydex sheaths for the War Dog like those for the Scrapivore at a similar price.
I have many Mashed Cat sheaths and have been very happy with each.....
as well as those I've purchased from Rainwalker and Buy Brown.

I think this knife will serve best as a combat knife, hence the name. Soldiers and Marines are pretty hard on their knives in the field and a knife like the War Dog would be right up their alley. I think your right, but I also think it will be used for some bushcraft duties. This is exactly the blade I was hoping for. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I think it was a typo. The cutting edge should be a bit over 4" taking the blade is 5".
