Here's the Tan War Dog ![[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]](http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j176/jerrybusse/WarDogTan3-1.jpg) Here's the cut-away shot. ![[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]](http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j176/jerrybusse/WarDogTang5.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]](http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j176/jerrybusse/WarDogTang.jpg) Here's the size comparison shot next to the small SYKCO handle. ![[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]](http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j176/jerrybusse/WarDogvsSmallSY.jpg) Note: You may notice, what appears to be, small gaps at the spine and choil of the handle. These are very shallow and only go under the handles .040" at the top with approximately .015" at the bottom. These small steps allow us to put a variety of blade shapes in this same handle. They can be trimmed with a small razor if you feel the need. ![[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]](http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j176/jerrybusse/WarDogTan3-1-1.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]](http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j176/jerrybusse/WarDogTang-1.jpg)

That new handle is definately more versatile, and should be more comfortable for people with larger hands. i have long narrow hands and find the standard grips work just fine. but those new handles just look more....usable. like you could put a lanyard on that knife and place your hand farther back on the handle for cross-batoning. and i think they seem like they would be better for a reverse hold plunge cut. Looking good! The handle gives an opportunity for versatile gripping. Important detail when used as a fighting knife.

Thanks Big Dog! Can't wait to get mine. Hope this cut away blade isn't the one I ordered!

Using my DF camping the last few weeks and trying to split some heavy wood (bad idea) thought my hand was going to fall off. I know the DF is a chopper but it was begging to be used for splitting wood. I'm looking forward to a heavy knife with the micarta handles.

SF, I have limited experience using a baton but IF I held the knife the right way vibration wasn't an issue for me. Maybe I just got lucky because as I said my batoning experience is very limited.
