Welcome to the yard.
Dan's knives are about performance for the price.(performance to price ratio)
No frills means lower prices for us dogs.
It takes manhours to cut jimping on hundreds of blades.
Less manhours spent making it equals less mandollars spent getting it in my paws.
Works for me.
Besides,it wouldn't be hard at all to cut some jimping with a dremel & cutoff wheel.

I was thinking the same. According to the video Dan linked here the new handle provides a good strong grip. Also the blade is big enough to work on it's own.

Welcome to the yard and you do bring up a valid point but after watching the video and seeing this blade perform, i think the video shows an excellent tool at work.

although jimping would add flare to the blade.

Now, I'm curious. Why is jimping desired?

I mean, I have it on some pocket knives, and some rely on that feature to give a secure grip due to compromises in handle size (small knives).
