Got my War Dogs in today....one black and one tan. Here is the black one with my other satin + black Res-C Dogs. The tan handled War Dog didn't fit in and was sadly left out of the pictures.....outcast!

Along side my War Dog is some that I use and some that I have yet to use......my Dumpster Mutt LE (light user), Yard Keeper LE (unused), Regulator LE (unused), and Dogfather LE (heavy user).

Couldn't find the perfect lighting.....I'm obviously no JarheadJournalist! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

The only Satin/Res-C yard blade that I ever owned and sold was the Scrapper 5 LE.....loved the blade design, just could never get used to the mudder handles. The new handle however is quickly growing on me! And the War Dog balances nicely in my hand.....or on my finger....see:

Only one complaint with the War Dog.......could have been sharper, definitely the dullest blade that I've received from the Yard. I'm actually thinking about stepping out of my comfort zone and buying some sandpaper and mousepads to work on the convex edge.....or just throwing it to the old stone and give it a classic V-grind....afraid that will take too long though!....any suggestions?

I would try the mousepad sandpaper. It is pretty easy if you are willing to take the time to do it. There are a ton of videos on youtube for reference. Keep it convex <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Nice collection of Satin and Res-C! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

As far as sharpening goes, get yourself a decent Belt sander and some fine grit belts. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Practice with some cheap machetes and other cheap blades first to get the hang of it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Hard to beat a good belt sander. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thats a sweet collection you have there snaggletooth. I have to agree with you on the sharpning on the blade. Nothing a little touch up wont fix. I think this link was posted somewhere in the forums, but its pretty helpful. http://www.knivesshipfree.com/pages/Sharpening-Videos

I'm a little concerned abt the sharpening also. I don't have a lot of experience with sharpening a convex edge. This was a good bit of money for me and I don't want to mess it up.

NICE satin/Res C collection brother!!!
Beautiful stuff!!!!
As far as sharpening a convex I recommend YouTube to learn some technique and use sandpaper with an old firm mouse pad or even sandpaper on a leather and wood strop. I spent about $20 on papers from 400 - 2000. I should easily get a mirrored, laser sharp edge.
The great thing about the sandpaper is that you can put it on glass (because it is smooth and flat) and use it like you would a stone for a V edge as well.
Best of luck with your sharpening endeavors.
Congrats on the arrival of your WD!!!

Nice collection there. As for sharpening, I was never able to get those hair popping edges until I got a belt sander with multiple belts. 120 - 600, then to a leather belt with green compound. The only thing I would like to get is a rheostat to slow it down some.

But,,,, I saw recently the Wicked Edge sharpener and it looks very interesting. Does anyone have any experience with this system? Although it is not for convex edge.
