If you send it back after contacting the shop I am sure they'd be happy to sharpen it for you...As others have already stated, you should probably learn to sharpen it yourself as it will come up in the future - no knife will keep an edge for ever. In fact, the sharper it is, the quicker it is likely to dull given edge geometry and such. Yes its nearly a $200 knife but everyone knew that going in. It is Infi and ScrapYard and will last a long, long time. Sure a $15 knife will work but I would ask why did you buy a $200 knife if you already felt you had a $15 one that was everything you needed it to be? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> When it comes down to knife toughness and strength, you would be hard pressed to find a $15 knife (or a knife at any price) that can stand with the Bussekins. Also, it is a thick blade but that was known before you purchased it because all the blade geometry was given. There are jobs for thin blades and jobs for thick ones. Anyway - Enjoy it or sell it! there are plenty of folks out there that missed out on it that would love to take it off your hands. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> You appear to have mixed up my criticisms with the original poster's. Mine came dull as well but I sharpened mine. I think my discussion of it being a $200 knife and its performance versus a $15 knife was self explanatory. I bought it because I wanted to see what INFI is all about and why it costs $200. As I said, time will tell if it is worth keeping. If I can't justify keeping it I will sell it.

No worries Andrew. I didn't mix them up I just tried to address both posts with my reply. My comment on the $15 knife was simply a curiosity. Many people buy expensive knives and then don't really see why they cost so much compared to their Buck or CRKT knife that does everything they ever need it to...So, I just wonder what prompts them to spend the $ in the first place. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Hopefully you like the knife enough to keep it and if not, sell it and try another that may be more to your liking. Most important thing is to know what you are planning to use the knife for and then know the specs of the knife before you buy and that way you will already know if it will work for what you intend. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I too paid, via paypal, before blade an am anxiously awaiting a shipping notice. I contacted Renee and received a prompt reply. With Blade and a well deserved break it may still be a little while. Of course the wait is well worth it and much much less than under the old business plan. Infi and resC are a great combination that has been pretty scarce of late. I really like my s5 le and I know the WD will be the same quality. I also completely trust SY to make customers satisfied.

Dan did mention the small gaps in the Res-C. At least the sizing ones for different designs. I haven't read any reports of problems with rusting from any infi/res-c handle gaps. If you decide to keep and use it and you're worried you cen fill the gaps with something.

I can see the WDG (yes, thats what I will call it because WD confuses me and makes me think of the WeinerDog <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ) not being a knife for every one. I find it a little too thick for my personal use, but its definitely a solid knife that will take a lot of work without complaining.
Also remember you not only pay for the magical pixie blood quenched INFI, but also the guarantee that if you ever have a problem with the knife, you will be taken care of. That alone is worth a lot of money.
How many cheap tools or knives (or shoes or cars, etc.) have you bought and broken, only to have to replace them with another cheap one that then broke, until you've spent the $200 anyway?
Some things are just worth what you pay, I always had cheap sunglasses, they would break, scratch, warp, fog up, and over time I spent hundreds of $$ on cheap sunglasses. I finally broke down and bought a really good pair, that I still have today almost 10 years later. They probably cost me half of what I would have spent on cheap sunglasses in the same amount of time. I had the same experience with shoes.

As far as sharpening, get a strop, you will find its really easy to use and will touch up your other knives beautifully. Being able to maintain your tools is as important as having the right tool, nothing is maintenance free <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

As long as you don't reprofile the blade a stop or strop bat will be all we need.
I THOUGHT there already was a WD in use. I don't have a weiner dog, that's my excuse for forgetting.

Strops work great on convex edges and there are other methods folks here in the yard have explained. Belt grinder does awesome on convex grinds.

You seemed to take my post as saying something along the lines of "Why buy a War Dog when a $15 knife will do." What I was saying is now I will be able to see what the War Dog can do that a $15 knife cannot and I will have to see if that difference is worth the price to me. The War Dog is what I have been shopping for in a knife with the only exception being the thickness. I decided to take the plunge anyway. If it doesn't work for me I can always sell it. I knew what I was getting into with this purchase except for the handle gaps. That would have been nice to know before I ordered but as I said so far it seems to resist rust just fine.

I hear ya Andrew. Hopefully you will like it and if not I'm sure there will be future releases that are more to your liking. They did post pics and explanations regarding the handle gaps but I guess you missed the post. They shouldn't cause any issues though and I think if you look up the post on it they even recommend a way to deal with them (remove them). Good luck!
