Mine would be an ASH1

I know it's blasphemy but there's a steel called unimax which seems to be interesting.
Toughness of 350J at 59HRC with relative good edge holding.
I can't help I'm always looking for new stuff

Hi I am new to the forum and thought this would make for a interesting conversation. If you could design a knife to your specs what would it look and feel like? Make sure to put in the blade length, grind, thickness, and handle
design in. I think mine would be a 10inch blade that is about a 1/4 inch thick
with either a saber or flat grind. the handle would be a be a rubber handle to absorb shock and to give a good grip even in water. it would be a full tang blade
with a hammer pommel to pound tent stakes and to help make traps and snares. The over all knife length would be about 16 inches. looking forward to comments.

Gundog, welcome to the yard mate! Like everyone else said, get a DF.. Very good big knife, the DF.

So my pick then;

Dream world, double cut, SOD LE in INFI! Supplied from the factory in low ride Rainwalker kydex.. I'd have to buy three though, in case customs confiscated any of them during travel...

In the real world, SOD CG with orange res-C and an urban gray blade. Looks less tactical, so less scary for sheeple!

Of course a sage and black SOD would be nice too!

(Though if I'm honest, anything new from the yard with a steel guard lug between your fingers and the edge would be nice. Anyway, back to lurking for the next few months!)

JYD #3 Poor, but still dreaming of a sage and black SOD CG...

The Regulator with a Milspec sheath is my all time favorite. I am interested in this 911 too though.

For me, a B11 is the perfect light weight chopper. It makes quick work out of building a shelter. If I owned a DFLE it would likey be a toss-up from everything I've heard about the legend.

The Skinny ASH1 is my favorite belt carry all around camp knife. There are bigger and thicker, but that is all I need and then some for any situation. A similar Res-C in ThINFI or Thin77, well that would be tough to beat.

The S5LE and RMD are as good as it gets in that size for hiking, and would not fail you in a survival situation. It'd be real hard to improve on those two.

An orange Ritter RKS MK1 is always in my pocket. I could survive with that if needed. Even the regular Grip is fine.

I think alot of survival dream knives will be found in the new 11 and basic series. There looks to be a whole lot of well thought out, performance oriented blades in the works.

Right now I would need two, as follows.

1. WarDog. FANTASTIC blade, 5 inches of INFI steel in a lightweight, relatively thick (.200) flat ground blade that has an absolutely great blade profile for a "Do Everything" blade.

2. POSSIBLY the Bull Dog, Bull Reg, Bull Nose, what ever you call it. About 7 1/4 inches of thick (.330) steel in a reinforced "Nose" that can only improve the survivability of digging and prying. Not a Dedicated chopper, but If that is NOT what you need, the Bull Nose and WarDog would make a Fantastic piggyback system.
** I might add I don't have my Bull Nose yet, but I strongly suspect it will work out as I indicated.

2a. The DF of course, as a dedicated Chopper but I think I would rather go with the above combo for close enough to the same weight.

Thanks, rth. I'm surprised there aren't more of us here. Put a WG P226 through its paces yesterday. What a shooter.

This is definately one of the best forums I've ever been a part of. I only participate on here and SigForum. The rest are too much drama.

I still think a 10.5 inch regulator with the 6.5" profile will beat any dogfather.
