I found one for sale on the blade forums and had to grab it. These were a Blade show custom right?, I thought Scrap Yard does not do custom work? Any info on the origin of these Bulldogs?

I haven't heard anything about how it came about but I've got one that will be coming to me. I think it will be a really good larger midsize outdoors blade. It is around 7 1/4 in blade length, .330 or so thick and has that Rhino nose type tip. To me that reinforced tip will make it much better for digging, prying and such that we all do with our blade whether we admit or not without breaking off. And the blade shape is unique enough to make it a "Must have" for collectors as well. Personally I think Dan could sell a ton of these once the ones from blade have been out there for a while and reported on. When I get mine I plan in jabbing it into some wood, green and seasoned landscape timbers to see how it actually does in the tip usage aspect. I think it will come through quite well and will be a fair chopper in it's own right.

Thanks Skunk. It is made of SR-101? If so is it at 62-64 Rc, like the Scrapivore?

Thanks.

I figure it will be either SR-101 or sr77. And I almost positive Dan wouldn't put an RC hardness like that on a blade the will receive the abuse this one will. Oh and he 62-64 Scrapivore hardness, that was only on the LE models. The CG version I THINK he said would be around 56-58 on the RC scale. Oh and you have a beautiful place down in Brazil!

From the looks of the Bulldog I figure it will be the same (except for looks of course) as the plain CG Regulator/MilReg. AND it is very possible that the Bulldog is nothing more than a reground Regulator! That would explain why there isn't all that many of them.

Dan probably had some left over Regulators and said Hum... I wonder what they would look like If I had ingested just a touch to much Blue and then ground some blades! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Skunk! Yeah I really enjoy it down there.

I really like the looks of the BullDog. I was going to strip it, but I am little leary of taking a stripped SR-101 blade to Brasil. That might be the only draw back I can see.

Well ask yourself this, are ALL the machetes used down there coated? Get yourself some ren wax or tuff cloths and you would probably do ok. I had a leaf spring steel 10 inch bowie while in the Philippines and if it started getting rust on it I just shoved it into the ground until the rust was gone (or used it) and I still have it RUST FREE after 35 years!

I don't know what you do down there but chances are a blade like that you MIGHT be using it every day anyhow and that daily usage would keep almost all the rust off of it.

DUF, seeings how both the reg and milreg (and I guess the TT version as well) were all SR101 I would guess the Bulldog would be as well.

Personally I have never been worried about rust on any blade that I have carried, even in leather sheaths. Just check them at least once every day or so and you shouldn't have any rusting problems that would impact on the knife in any way that would be detrimental.
