I was just on knifetest forum and came across a post where someone dipped their knife in hot bleach and the results are really nice. I might have to try it sometime and see how it comes out. Has anyone else heard of this?

If it is ok I will post the link to the thread.

Update!! WhiskeyKilo took the bull by the horns!! Check out his pics on page 2 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />!!!

duF, don't think anything wrong with posting up something like that. Folks post links to "how to's" all the time. And If it is wrong Make sure the mods know I said it would probably be ok that way you wouldn't get in any trouble.

Hum..... Very interesting, and it is a nice looking finish. I like the Pitted "rustic" look.

I really like the pitted look too. Reminds me of the SS4 after you strip it.

I am getting some pics, For the scrapivore it is taking longer then just a dip in the bleach. But it does start rusting right away. Like I said bored and this looks cool, That and a beer is all the encouragement i need!

Good call on trying it out on the Scrapavore...no handle to worry about.

I should have picked one up, but I am waiting to see what the new blade will be.

This is really a outside project, the vapor coming off the near boiling bleach can not be good for you! I am still boiling, the cg grade scrapivore is SR101 right? I imagine different steels would have different "cook" times
