I recently received an Edge Pro Apex from a fantastic friend and fellow Blade Forums/Scrap Yard Forums member who I will get to meet face to face for the first time this weekend.
I have had my Crash Rat for several months and it needed a good sharpening because I've been beating the crap out of it!!!
The EP is not meant for a blade this size but I used a magnesium block as a back stop to get the edge to the proper alignment on the EP.

A little time and effort an viola!!!

I only took this to 1000 grit but could have easily gone to a full polish at 6000.
This Rat shaves with NO effort now!!
Fuzz stick.

Great looking results <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

How easy is the Edge Pro to use?

Was this the first sharpening you did with it?

Thanks guys!

MD, I find the EP pretty easy to use though it does have a learning curve as any type of sharpening does. The gent I got it from found it awkward and preferred the Wicked Edge system.
He actually JUST texted me saying that the EP can get a shallower angle than the WE so his thinner knives will have steeper edges now.
The CR is the 8th blade I've done. The sharpened include SS4, RC 3, ESEE Izula, RAT 1 folder, and 3 kitchen knives.
Personally I LOVE the EP!!

From pictures I've seen its easy to mess up the blade on one of these, get a steeper angle towards the tip, did you have any problems with this?

I usually sharpen freehand, but have been looking to get the EP or Wicked Sharp to reprofile blades with.

If you move the knife as the included video suggests, always keeping the cutting edge perpendicular to the stone you should not have a problem.
Go slow and practice on cheaper knives first.

.. or my WorkSharp

Also been looking at the worksharp, is it too small to reprofile anything?

Check with Sumo on the work sharp, he had one and I don't think he liked it.

I think the belts are like 1/2 inch wide and they would work I guess, but just not for everyone. I had looked at them and decided it wasn't for me. Guess I'm just to cheap, I'll stick to my hones ceramic stone and diamond steels.
