yeah I have both, very similar in size, the 511 blade is a little narrower from edge to the back (not sure of the technical term)The ratmandu is longer from end to end and the biggest differences, to me, is the ratmandu has a larger handle (scales whatever) area.

I take that back, the actual sharp blade area of the 511 is longer, but the 511 handle area is shorter

Thanks AZWelke! Great shots. Tough decision which to get. The RMD looks to have a steeper drop-point. They certainly look very similar. I wish the 5-11 had color options.

My 511's arrived last night, and I compared them to my RMD's...

The blade profile is very similar, but the 511 is much thinner toward the tip (looking down on the spine).

Otherwise they are very similar. The 511 is MUCH lighter in the hand, and feels great.

That looks like a RMD I received yesterday from the Exchange -- not that I didn't already have a bunch of them, but it was new condition and came with kydex + tek-lok for $150, which is about the same as a new RMD + KY sales tax would have been without the sheath. It looks like most of the difference in weight would be due to the Res-C handle on the 511.

Edit: I misremembered the RMD color -- the one I bought was tanker, not sage -- I have sage-bladed RMDs, but not that one.

The 511 is a good looking knife. I decided to hold off since I have the first generation RMD and redundancy right now is not my thing. One thing the 511 has over the RMD is weight. Congrats to all you guys.
