Does not happen often but I was sitting around and felt the vibrations, I thought it was a big truck going by the house. 5.8 mag I think centered in VA.

Felt it all the way up here in PA, and further I heard.
My wife said the kitchen cabinets flew open and there was a lot of noise.
I hope everyone are ok? I heard there are no reported damages so far.

I'll have to turn on the news. Hope everybody is ok. 5.8 is nothing to sneeze at. I've been through several the last 53 years. Prayers from California goin' out. Fred

My family felt it in NC and apparently people felt it here in Massachusetts, in my office building. I didn't feel it though.
I just came home from Davis, West Virginia Sunday Night. I flew out of Richmond which apparently was very close to the epicenter.
Glad you're ok.
I have family in VA just outside of DC. I better call and see if everyone is alright.
Let's all hope that hurricane Irene turns east.

Felt in in DC. Building was swaying and then everything shook violently for a few seconds. Loads of fun!

I was laying in bed watching tv. It felt like the dog was scratching himself under the bed, but when I looked over he was laying beside me. Lasted a good 30 seconds or so.

I heard about the earthquakes on the news. That is something that I have never been through.

I've been through several, while stationed in the Philippines and Japan. One in the Philippines had the closet doors a swinging and the bed scooting across the floor.
The worse in Japan caused my car to roll backwards at a stop sign, and the other one caused a 9 story building on base to sway back and forth. THAT was weird as we were out on the patio.

What an interesting development!
I think somebody in central VA is buying too much INFI, and causing a displacement in the Earth's crust! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I'm in Short Gap WV about an hour west of Winchester Va. I was riding a lawn mower at church and didn't feel it, but there were many around here that did.
