I have a Leupold 2x7 rimfire scope mounted on my 10//22 and it is a terrific scope. For you, the issue is that it will cost you just over $200. My recommendations is to save your $ and buy a Leupold.

Well, a friend at work came by today and brought me a Simmons 4X12 40mm scope for my 10/22. He said I could have it and that the only thing he wanted was some folder that he could give to his wife. So, I just need to figure out what folder I will give him in trade. He stated it did not need to be a value for value trade. I thought it was a nice gesture. The scope is very nice - like new.

Do you really want a 4x12 40mm scope mounted on your small, light 10/22?
You might want to rethink that. You're shooting a 22 not a 308.

What works for a .308 works on a .22 as well. If I had the money I would slap a Leupold Mark 4 on my 10/22.

I put peep sights on my 10-22, however for the Thompson Center R55 Benchmark, I selected the Weaver Classic Rim Fire 3X9X32 with Adj. Objective. Have been very pleased with its performance and quality for the price.

Actually, the scope isn't that heavy and as I stated its just a plinker rifle for me so the weight is no big deal. Actually, adding a heavy scope to a light rifle makes more sense to me than adding a heavy scope to an already heavy rifle. I can easily move it to one of my other rifles when I want...and I can't beat the price (free).

Thanks to all for the replies and suggestions.

I know you said you did not want to spend over $100 but in my experience you get what you pay for. Try to find a Nikon buckmaster 4x40 EVERY so often you can find them for around $129 I would be VERY happy to have this scope on my 10/22

I had a Nikon slughunter on my 12g deer shotgun I could put 3 rounds in a 1 1/2-2" circle at 75 yards with remington copper solids. I have a Nikon 4-12x50 on my 30-06 now, I had a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x50 on a 7mm-08. Nikon makes GREAT products.

If you hawk the sales you can get a Nikon Prostaff for about 100 bucks. Its overkill on a 22 though.
