I too would like some more 77, mostly on the big knives . It'd be great if the 7-11 & 9-11 were SR-77, and the rest were SR-101.

A 154 CM LE version of the 3-11 and 4-11 would be great too!

911 with SR77 but 711 is going into camping knife space. I have to agree with the others; SR101 is better in a knife that has a 7" blade. But then what I do know
I can see your point about the 7-11 being 101, if it's going to be a camp knife and not a chopper.

I would use the 7-11 as a chopper assuming it's 1/4 inch thick.
Theres just something about SR-77 that I like for a bigger blade. The combinatin of rust resistance, toughness, and ease of sharpening does it for me.

Yeah I agree. I really like how easy to sharpen my Dog Father is compared to my 101 blades.

Are some of the bigger swamp rat 101 blades a lot more prone to chipping? I wonder if the Rodent 9 will be differentially tempered. It didn't say so in the specs.

Yea I have heard that SR101 chips easier but seeing as I don't have hands-on experience with either I am not a good judge. I would like one of each. Seeing that SR-77 is a shock steel it would seem to be better for chopping and batoning. 52100 is used for ball bearings so they have got to be able to take a beating too. Both awesome steels either way.

After the heat treat, there is really no comparison between a steel in a knife vs a steel in a jackhammer/ball bearing.

We have seen they are both tough and backed by a great warranty. It's a true win-win.

I've wondered about this for awhile now, why did we stop getting SR77?

and the only thing I can "guess" is it's a business decision, made after lots of talking and "drinking" I'm sure! lol

I like them both, I have both and like most and I trust Dan and Jerry (they've always given us amazing things) and if they have/use more SR101 I'm totally fine with that, I've used them both and I've never had chipping or problems with either.

it's just...SR77 was Dan's baby to many of us, and it was special because ScarpYard was like our first shoe, our first kiss, our first baby we beat the hel... err trusted and used hard!

Bring whatever Dan, we'll luv it as always boss
