This might help you: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/765050-Work-Sharp-Knife-Sharpener

Over 400 posts about the sharpener in that thread.

I thought about one, but just figured power tools would just speed up my destructive tendency. Hand sharpening is therapeutic for me since I don't get to use my blades much.
Thanks!! That's awesome. I have a lot of reading to do.

I like that the DMT stones are small enough to take hunting and camping. also
when the zombies take out the power plant I can still sharpen my Busse kin blades.

I like DMT and still want to get my grubby paws on them! Good quality and you can sharpen anything on them, especially these new harder "super" steels.

I have seen the sharpener before on BF and though I think it is "cool" I just dont like it. As wrxguyusa said. Sharpening makes me relax and I enjoy sharpening my knives. This takes that aspect away from sharpening. Still will buy it to get other peoples knives sharp as it will be faster then by hand and most people screw their knives up to such a degree you need a power tool.

Yea, I hear y'all about sharpening freehand. That's what I'm doing now.

I guess I'm just looking for something simpler and something that will easily do a convex edge.

Ryan, those that have them say that a piece of fine grit sand paper attached to a mouse pad will do a convex edge and they also recommend a leather strop with polishing compound. Me, I'll just stick to my V grinds, them I KNOW I can do.

What about on your War Dogs?

Yeah, I've been using Sandpaper and a mousepad to reprofile my Rodent Solution. It's taking forever! 101 has got to be the hardest steel to sharpen that I own. But once it's sharp, man is it sharp for a long time!

I have a Work Sharp and it is excellent.Simple to use and good results. I did about thirty knives right when I got it, kitchen, hunting and some big Cold Steel kukris and machetes. It does the tips fine, you just need a little practice on a cheap knife to master the technique.
