All you read on this forum is good reviews of the knives that Scrapyard produces.

Contrary to the title of this thread, this is another one of those reviews . (I'll get to the biting part later.)

I just got the 5-11 yesterday, and I have to say that I love it! It fits my size medium hands perfectly, and just feels very solid and well balanced. I've been fondling it lovingly non-stop, and used it to make feather sticks and kindling for a fire in my backyard. It'll get some hard use as soon as it gets some Rainwalker pants! Believe it or not, for my needs, the 5-11 beats out the War Dog!

Out of the more than a dozen new Busse & kin I've scored over the last few months, the 5-11 came with the sharpest factory edge. Thanks to Mike, I have a large chunk of hair missing from my leg (give that man a raise!).

Now to the biting part, and my only complaint about the blade, I've reached for the Choil several times instinctively and cut my index finger. I think an extra 1/8th" of Choil would make this the perfect 5" blade.

Great job on this design Dan & co!! I've always wanted a Ratmandu, but now I find no need for one. I got a fantastic knife made of the same steel with an amazing edge and a Rainwalker kydex sheath for $8 less than the RMD. I think that ultimately I will get an RMD, but for now I'm perfectly content without one. With a little mod to the Choil, I think this blade will likely go on many outings and survival excercises in lieu of my 5-6" INFI due to its weight and outstanding performance!

I can't wait for the 9, 3 & 4 to come out!

ETA: More Pics!

Don't know what kind of wood this was, but it was VERY hard.

I think I've trained it enough not to bite. The Choil is actually very usable if you don't just reach blindly for it.

What a tip!! This thing is armor piercing.

Fixed it for ya

I'm looking forward to seeing the true, in hand difference of the camo 511's.

I agree with you, Flux...the 511 is a great blade!

Completely agreed.

No Choil and a bigger guard on the handle = perfection for this knife.

Pretty amazing that the actual cutting edge on the 5-11 is only 1 mm shorter than the new Basic-6.

Don't be to hasty say now you don't need a ratmandu, it is a completely different creature and as much as I love my res-c, the grip on the rmd might be one of the most comfortable I have ever held. If you get the chance to handle one you will see what I mean.

There's a difference between needing and wanting. Now I don't feel the need for one, but I will definitely be getting one at some point

If the RMD's handle is anywhere near as perfect as the RS handle, I'm sure I'll love it!

I used to have an RMD...couldn't warm up to it.

I'm hoping I like the Rodent 5 though

I have an "urge" for a RMD ... my daily routine involves checking the store to see if they show up as in stock...

Congrats on the 511! I really like both the RMD and 511, their both great blades and very similar in some ways.

I was starting to think I was the only one that had an RMD, didn't love it, and got rid of it. It's not bad, but just didn't appeal to me.

I do still have a RMDx LE. I keep thinking I'll sell it since I don't use it, but it's just to darn thin and sharp.

I'm a res c convert 2. When I first had the RMD, I felt it was knife perfection. Ended up having to let it go, and when I got one of the new batch, it didn't do it for me anymore. I did miss the little swedge but ended up liking the S5 more.

I've been hoping to see a comparison with the RMD, S5, 511 and maybe War Dog. Haven't been able to justify the 511...yet!

Lets see more pics! (maybe a little smaller though! )

Sure thing! I have no control over the size of the pics since I post from my phone. I'll see if I can correct it.

I've seen the RMD & 511 comparison. They look like kissing cousins.
