Marty, thank you for the pictures! It looks like you guys had some trouble along te way but got them straightened out. What were you digging for, water? And what does the company mean, no HBO or Cinemax! And OK, what are those (eggs) in the last Picture?
Again, thanks for the pictures it's always nice to see different parts of the world.

Again, thanks for the pictures it's always nice to see different parts of the world. The trouble along the way was only the start. The generator's starter did not want to work, had to fix that and Sunday the borehole collapsed, they are sorting it out and then I have to go back for another week. We are doing what is known as Well Logging or Borehole Logging ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Well_logging) The water in the area is very salty so what we are analysing is the permeability of the geological features. This gives us an idea about the coal as well as methane gas being produced that can/might be mined. Sorry randy, but I dont understand the following question: nd what does the company mean, no HBO or Cinemax! As for the eggs...still trying to figure that out, emailed someone in zoology and awaiting for reply, first time I have seen that myself.

haha, It is kind of a joke that didn't work. HBO and Cinemax are companies that have channels on cable TV that show mainly movies!

I saw the pic of Pumba from the bridge you were on where they were down in the dry river bed.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, what is that knife you have next to the eggs?

Glad you guys enjoy the pictures! Thanks for sharing the pictures, what is that knife you have next to the eggs? It is a self made friction folder from a 2mm piece of machete 1055 carbon steel, green and black G10, nuts and bolts.

Thanks for the kind words!
The folder is still a work in progress, but hopefully I can get some better quality ones done in future.

Your friction folder reminds me of "Primitive" style of blades. I like it!

Thanks for the kind words guys, I dont know if I will be taking the Friction folder with me again. I found an old Kershaw model 2420. A bit larger blade that might come more in handy.

Looks like an adventure I would enjoy. I don't know anything about Botswanna, but think I would not be there without my FAL!

Gee whiz Marty, it's beginning to look like you have something go wrong on every trip out! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> Still cool pics though, thank you .

Ha ha, well....it would not be worth the trip nor be an adventure without some issues to sort out along the way! It just makes it that much more entertaining!

That looks like one nasty scorpion! What is that in the 3rd to last picture? BTW where in S.A. do you live? Went there on a training camp 10 years ago. Beautiful country. Will, with no doubt, find my way back there some day.

That is just where the tent ended up on our approach I took the picture, the picture above that was the local cow.
