A little late but I hate getting sent to a call for a man with a gun. Then you get a description and its a man with a rifle wearing an orange vest and hat. In a field, in the country. Really people? I wonder what they could be doing. During antelope or deer season.

I hate to dispatch those calls, but protocol is that we send TWO officers to ANY calls involving firearms. This is a rural county with lots of hunters, and we waste a lot of time on those calls.

I asked for clarification about hunters, and was told officers needed to be dispatched for that as well. They MIGHT be trespassing or otherwise up to no good. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Same here. I have yet to contact anyone trespassing. In fact most are on thier own property. We have had a major influx of city people who are terrified of guns. Bad news they moved to the most gun friendly place in the state.

I get callers that are terrified because "He has a gun!"

They call because of people carrying guns out to put in a car. (Happened to me once)

They call because there is someone shooting. (Don't move next to a guy that has a gun range on his property)

Or my personal favorite: "He's wearing a gun ON HIS BELT!" My response: "That's completely legal ma'am. Can I help you with something else?" (She was calling about a neighbor ON HIS OWN PROPERTY!)
