I honed my Parachutemandu with the 3,000 - 8,000 followed up with the strop the other day. I think it might be too sharp now.

It can be time consuming getting ready for the shave, but I (unless I was running late) found it relaxing to actually shave.

I keep my blades ready to go and shave after my morning showers so the hair is already soft and ready to be cut. I guess it takes me 3-4 minutes. Haven't bought a razors in about 1.5 years.
I figure this new 12,000 grit will be my last purchase for the rest of my life in the shaving department.

I like just a little coarser edge. I honed up my edc (little Sebbie) the other night at work on my spyderco medium ceramic flat hone. Puts just the edge I like, but I DID strop it about 6 LIGHT times on a fine DMT.

Hooker, it would have to be. The edge would be to fragile for much of anything else unless you were cutting very soft stuff.

There are 20,000 stones and even a Ohira Tomae stone at 30,000.

Hey JJ, just for grins and giggles, you should see what kind of edge you can put on one of those bayonets.

Those stones would have to be for nothing but polishing! Wonder if they use those on samurai blades?

How fragile would depend on the angle and the steel though, right?

I like micro serrations on my work blades too. I was just seeing how well the metal could take an edge. Yes, I tested it the next morning during my daily shave. It didn't perform as well as the Dovo razors, but worked with out too much snagging. The angle isn't as acute as the Dovo and the steel is as high in the carbon department, corrosion would be bad if it were.
