Question on a S6 I have had in the safe for awhile. I sent a photo of it to Renee but it did not show the swirls as good as this picture. She responded that Scrapyard releases no "Seconds" so the knife was OK'ed to ship. I have a sterile S6 that is a user that has one of these swirls up near the tip as well, so it was not limited to the Logo Stamped S6's. Has anyone else seen this on an S6's or other SYARD Blades? Look about 1" from the tip of the blade in the photo and you can see 2 swirls in the coating. The light has to be just right for them to show in a picture. I am not concerned with it as I love my S6's but I was just curious as a collector as to how it happens? Any input appreciated.

Looks fine to me, I wouldn't worry anyway as the coating will all smooth out with use....show it no mercy ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I have noticed these swirl marks on most if not all of my Scrap Yard blades. I always assumed that it was a mark left when the hardness of the steel was checked, but that is just a wild guess on my part and I could be way off.

I've seen them on a few of my Busse kin blades. Haven't seen any reason to worry about them though. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Yeah. These are pretty normal, from what I've come across. It's nothing to worry about & doesn't decrease the value of the Blade.

I have a Dumpster Mutt,
this also has this characteristic.
I think no problem,
Blade quality 100% ok.
Perhaps the coating?

If I am seeing what I think you are talking about I would would be 100 percent sure it was the coating. All it would take would be one small tiny speck of almost anything to cause the coating to not stick uniformly. And with Dan's guarantee, it would not be a consideration to me.

I've seen them on a number of knives, both safe queen and "beat the tar out" users. Perfectly normal and in no way impacted the wear resistance of the coating!

Just a unique mark to give each blade its own personality. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
