I've been wondering if there's any chance to get a knife without the choil? It looks nicely, but frankly makes the knife less usable.

Dan's side (scrapyard) doesn't have a custom shop. Kinda what you see is what you get.

Dan said in another thread that it would be offered in one configuration only.

I dont really think it makes it less usable either. Just preferences I guess. I think its more usable, as it makes it easier to choke up on.

I've already ordered one. I own some SY and SR knives, but I still find Scandi knives more usable than that, for example check out Sissipukko M95 which is perect utility design for me. Come around, no choil means longer cutting edge, and it's safer - can't hurt your fingers, Small notch would be ok and would ease sharpening (no recurve). Finally, you can always make choil on egde without one - but it doesn't work in the opposite direction;-)

I have knives both with and without a choil. On some the choil hinders somewhat (to me at least) the different grips one can use. On others it doesn't seem to be a hindrance at all. I think mostly it depends upon how you are using (Holding) the blade.

I'd like to see it in a 3/16" thick version.
