Great thread. There is one like this on another forum I visit less often than I should.

Today we finished up a new 10' x 30" four section rabbit cage today that should house over half of our future dinners. Rabbits seem to be about the fastest/easiest meats one can raise, and they are easy to keep out of sight since they need zero daylight to survive. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

We also just found out we finally have a couple of our yak cows successfully bred so that we should get our first babies in the spring from our starter herd!

Over the past several months we have gathered firewood, built new livestock pens, mined gravel to build new roads where our clay is sometimes unable to be driven on, obtained more ammo, firearms, knives, reloading supplies, tools, scopes, hay for two winters, and organized around the place.

Also scored a great deal on a couple more surefire outdoorsman E2L AA (my favorite flashlight that goes everywhere I go and runs on sanyo eneloop rechargeables)

WOW! Sounds like you and Architect need to compare notes on how to live the uncluttered lifestyle! GOOD FOR YOU!!! Remember though, that you need a certain amount of fat in your diet.

Yeah, we have chickens/eggs, sheep, & yaks as well, plus what ever we grow. We are still working on our gardening skills. It is hard to teach yourself things you never learned in the city as a kid, and some of the mistakes made are hard lessons learned.

Today I am plowing 3" of snow (which is melting off pretty quick down to about 2" in this pic I just took) and bringing in more firewood.

Unfortunately, we are a long ways from the uncluttered lifestyle, but we are getting there over time.

Ordered my first suppressor, the SWR Spectre II. Its going to be a long wait and probably worse than any knife wait yet.

Just forget you ordered it the best you can. The ATF is in no hurry. I guarantee that.

I have heard good things about SWR from guys at the local range. They are actually made here in Salt Lake City (actually West Valley City a border town) in the same building my 22Sparrow SS was made. I think Silencerco bought SWR or partnered with them or something.

Well I have to give my whole survival thing a new though since I am having a son in Jan. The plan used o bunker in, and that will probably still be the main thing since I have parents that are a few blocks away and dad is handicapped--still can lay lead down though. One thing is my brother has passed his EMT and is working on Paramedic right now so we have that going for us, we both have skills that many don't as to hand-to-hand/grappling, everyone in the family can shoot, we can load, we have some supplies (need to work on more), hunt/fish/snare/garden/etc., so I do feel better about that. To be honest, I am scarred now since I have the little one coming--no longer just about us, it is now US!

I was given a couple old 20LB propane tanks. I exchanged one of the empty ones for a new OPD tank for 19 bucks. Then I filled up a fuel can so I have fuel for my generator this winter and I filled up the tank on my ATV and winterized both.

I wished I had paid attention to the second propane tank. Its almost full but with the old valve it won't work on my grill or in my Camper. I hate wasting propane but I can't do anything with it. I didn't even think about it until I got back home.

Maybe you can find a hose with the old style regulator on it MB. Wouldn't hurt to check around. That reminds me, I need to get some coleman fuel.

I took my boy shooting today. He's getting good. He likes shooting the .17 HMR more than the .243 win, but can shoot them both. While kneeling he can regularly hit pop cans that are laying down at 50 yards. So, Any edible critter within 25 yards would be well within his range. He's going to take his hunter's safety course this year. I think he'll be ready. His cousin who is 9 killed her first buck last year, so my boy who will be nine this year is chomping at the bit.

Then, we went sledding... hiking up those hills reminded me that I need to work on my cardio.
