I"ve been looking at one of these for awhile. I know the knife is worth it but is the pistol worth the $ compared with other 1911 styles? Any input is greatly appreciated. I'd give my left nut for one of those as long as I got a prosthetic one put in to fill the void. That is a SWEET combo! I've held off till I can get a bit more comparison feedback and info from some folks that have some experience with other 1911 brands and makers. It's way too much to pay without some research. I'll just assume that its good stuff if Jerry is going to get in cahoots w/ them. I might be way off base - but I think that most of the quality 1911's are going to be pretty similar - ie a similar springfield vs. sig vs. kimber vs. colt shouldn't make a big difference, should it? Who made that Busse edition anyways? Les Baer
Can you even get that set anymore? It was a couple grand wasn't it, like 2.5?
It's still on there website but I have not called them.

Not sure what your 1911 experience is... Unless, you have cash (like $2500 +), my .02 on 1911's for civilian use is this (and I only have about 10 years of actual experience with them from a user/student/teacher standpoint), get a top tier manufacturer middle of the road 1911, like a Springfield Loaded model or a Kimber Tactical (or similar model) and start from there as opposed to a Rob Latham custom blah blah or a custom Colt whatever or a low end Springer. You are looking at some serious cash for a custom 1911. I have had friends with Ed Brown customs that do not function properly from the factory for carry purposes but they work great for punching paper. Not baggin on Ed Brown because I use amny of his parts in my 1911's, but that's my experience with full "customs". My factory Kimber and Springfield are more reliable than any of my friends custom jobs, but theirs were desgined to group and mine are more realibiltiy folcussed, it just depends on what your goal is.

I think if we get our line up right the 308 should take several cacti on one shot. I wouldn't doubt if the cacti around the Jeepers residence doesn't already have a few,.... ahh.... woodpecker holes in them! I think that Arizona state law has harsher punishments for killing cacti than people as I recall <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Saguaro are a protected species of cacti. Go to jail for messing with one of those puppies, although they are awesome so... The last tool I heard of someone who shot one with a shotgun several years ago was killed when the arm (which takes 75 years to grow) fell on him and crushed him.

Not a bad knife - not great though. That price is pretty good though. I have the M16-14SFA (made in the USA) - its ok for a folder - I think I paid $55 or so. My dad had one of the titanium ones - he was a little miffed that it was as expensive as it was and made in Taiwan.

Get the AUS-8 aluminum model if you are goin to go for it. I have one of the aluminum models and they are a great all around blade despite what the steel snobs say.

I didn't realize they grew that slow. They are so beautiful - the bets part of driving to Tucson was the hills that were just covered w/ them.
