With the wrap idea, I could remove the paint on the eagle globe and anchor to expose the brass to make it match the guard. Hmmmmmm, sounds good too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I still need to come up with an idea for the pommel or whatever the Japanese call it, but I have an awesome idea for the blade. Cheness keeps thier prices down by not putting a mirror polish on the blade (that and cheap Chinese sweat shop labor). So, I want to polish it on my 3,000, 8,000, and 12,000 grit stones then put the NCO Sword etching on the blade. ![[Linked Image from usmilitaryknives.com]](http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/USMC_NCO.jpg)

Can you do that? Or would you have to send it out to be etched?

OK, Cheness forgery is located in California. I'd say he uses cheap Mexican labor if I hadn't seen his production videos.

Can you do that? Or would you have to send it out to be etched? I can do that. Just cover the blade with an acid resistant film and use an exacto blade to cut out the design then apply acid and wait. I can get all the supplies for that at a local craft shop. No way am I going to pay for that. Way to much work.

Apparently it takes as many attempt to get it to flip as it does licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. 3, just ask the owl.

Sounds fairly simple, especially if you're artistic enough to draw out the patterns, and I know you've got that covered

It sounds easy, but as you pointed out, it takes some artsy stuff to get the pattern on there. But, I would photograph my sword, manipulate the image in photoshop to be black and white and warp the shape to the katana blade's shape. Then print it out at actual size - luckily I have a printer at work that prints on 2" wide rolls of paper. Use the print out as a stencil for the film, then cut out the design.
Wow, that makes it sound like a lot of work. This project is going to keep me busy all next summer.
