You could do a lot worse you know. (Yeah yeah, I know, you could have joined the Air force). <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

You can also get rid of the smell by putting them in the freezer over night. Might be beneficial to spray them, let them set for about 20-30 minute for the Lysol to get inside them real good then freeze them. I used to do this with my sneaks and it actually worked!

The lysol is working fine. I gave them a good dousing the first time once they already stunk. Now the short spray after each use keeps them perfect. They really stank before. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

I think the lysol build up in them should keep the smell away during periods when I can't use lysol after each use too.

I will probably stick with the Marines for 20 years, but I will keep writing freelance for CBS Interactive too. Need to keep my foot in the door until I get out so I can continue to afford my toys.

I've been using the Maxped Fliegerduffel for a few weeks now and love it. It has a lot of carry options. Backpack straps which are pretty comfortable. It has a D ring on each corner so you can choose how you want the long shoulder strap for one shoulder carry. It has a padded single hand grip on top and a drag strap on each end.

Would make a great BOB. Tons of molle webbing and five pockets besides the main compartment.

Highly recommended. I assume the Doppelduffle is just as good, just bigger.

I was just thinking you could stay in the Corps and still do your reviews and stuff. I bet Uncle O'bama loves you come tax time.

I am sure he does too, but I get mine back in per diem which for some reason is not counted as pay. They switched over to a weird pay method and now we get it tax free. And, I go TAD, or TDY as you AF people call it, quite often.

At least you're getting a break. As I said, I figure you get cut pretty deep with taxes being single and with the "Part time" job.

Oh, I just looked at that Maxped Fliegerduffel and it does look like a nice bag. Is that what you carry on your runs?

I use this minus the tent, lantern and GPS hanging from it with full water bladder and nalgene, 4 kilos/8.8 lbs of water.

The duffel doesn't have a waist strap to keep it from bouncing around. It is fine for hikes, but running I am sure it would be awkward.

I hadn't thought about no waist strap. From the looks of your pack, IF you had the tent you could just start running an never come back and would fare just fine.
