Last one I killed was kind of gamey tasting. I guess it was because he was an older deer. Usually a yearling doe is the best for eating.

I about ran over 6 of them yesterday morning as I was going home. Lucky I was going slow and kind of expecting them, or I'd have had a mess of deer meat.

My dad taught me how to cook deer meat, since Mom wouldn't touch it. I'm ok with it, but this last one just wasn't good meat. I've only had gamey tasting deer meat twice, and both times it was older bucks.

Older bucks and ones that have been eating milo were the worst ones I have had.

Back when I was growing up there weren't a lot of deer around in this area. You could only get ONE each season. Had two parts to the season, Either Sex or Bucks only.

Best I ever ate was yearling does. I used to shoot at least one a year just for meat, back when I was growing up and times were tough.

I remember when you couldn't hardly see a deer, much less kill one. Now they're everywhere.

We could get 4 a year if you bow hunted. I have no idea what the regs are now.

Yup, same here. It wasn't uncommon to hunt the season growing up and never see one. You MIGHT hear them, but wouldn't see any.

You should have Elk running around there Skunk. I know we shippped a bunch down in exchange for Turkeys.

I literally see deer every day around the house now. I realize that I live next to an apple orchard, but I've always lived there and I never saw deer like this until the past 3-4 years. I've usually been able to kill one when I wanted the meat, but still.....
