I voted No choil but to be honest on the larger blades I don't mind either way. It is the blades with say a blade length under 6" where I find choils to be a real pain. You not only lose much of the possible blade length but they also get hung up on stuff when cutting. +1. I made this poll because of the relevant success of the B-10, and how happy those that got the choil-less version seem to be. However, Perhaps we should start one for the 411!!! If that blade was no-choil, it would give the CABS a run for its money!! I was debating really hard on whether or not I should get a B-4. The biggest thing that turns me off about Busse knives are the smaller models that have that dog ear/talon hole and a choil. I don't mind the talon hole if it's in the ricasso like the Hog Muk or SAR5. I decided to get a user CABS from the exchange over the B-4 since the CABS is closer to perfect for me. I may end up getting one of those new hunters that have the Hog Muk handle that were available at the Creek this fall sometime in the future.

I'm still on the fence about getting a 911; I've got multiple Dog Fathers and SODs, so aside from it being SR101 instead of SR77, don't feel a strong need for another chopper. For folks who missed out on Dog Father's though, the 911 will be a great opportunity. Would a No-Choil option tip you over the fence like Humpty Dumpty?

Choil for me! That my vote. I like geting my finger right up there where the cutting edge starts, when i am not chopping.

Why are people chopping so close to the handle that a choil will mess them up?
If I'm gonna chop the sweet spot is center or towards the tip, not by the handle.

I don't think anyone is concerned about a choil when chopping. At least, that is my own thought. The choil gets in the way when you decide to use the knife for tasks other than chopping. The choil is a burden when: swinging at vines / loose objects, doing close work, cutting boxes, netting, wedding cakes, steaks, etc.

I voted for choil, but both options would be nice.

I'm not that concerned about the choil -- if someone wants to try using one knife for all things, it's good to be able to choke up for more control in close work. Since I'm a collector instead of a user, it doesn't mean all that much to me either way (unless they're a limit run, like 6.5-inch Regulators, in which case I may order 8.)

From the blade 2011 pics it looks like a rounded choil. Instead of the usually squared off one. Either is perfect. I am also really hoping for SR77. My dogfather is unbreakable and I want another a factory price. In fairness I have not had a SR101 chopper so I guess I need to try it first. I know it stays sharp but I have no ding, chips or anything on my dogfather and I used it during an extrication class last weekend.

Just out of curiosity, for those that vote "BOTH"...do you really want a choil, are you just trying to collect every model mfg by Dan, or do you just want Dan to release two different versions? I voted both because I normally like the choil but thought that for the lower prices of the Yard products I would try both.
